That's probably like renting out part of your home to a really horrible tenant that refuses to leave even after being evicted. Some real horror stories. Seems like an interesting concept.
DaFoe's a talented actor, but he's been in so many movies now that one has to sort out the good from the not too good. This has potential though.

I thought for sure this was a remake of the French "The Man in the Basement", which has very similar plot points.
