In Lords of War, Orlov discovers he has a son, Anton, who is trying to top his father’s wrongs rather than stop them as he launches a mercenary army to fight America’s Middle East conflicts.

The sequel will shoot in fall 2023, with FilmNation Entertainment representing the international sales rights starting at the Cannes Film Festival. CAA Media Finance will handle the domestic rights.

“There is so much more to explore with these characters. Plato said it best — ‘Only the dead have seen the end of war.’ I’m looking forward to spending more time in the company of the charming devil that is Yuri Orlov and now his illegitimate son – who turns out to not be legitimate in any way,” director Niccol said in a statement. It's not Wild At Heart 2: Still Wild, Still Heart, and I probably won't watch it.

Lord of War is one of my favorite movies of all time. There is no need for a sequel. I just hope it doesn't ruin Lord of War. I've learned more often than not the last several years be careful what you wish for when it comes to some of my favorites. Glass, Dexter New Blood, Veronica Mars Hulu "Season 1", Scream 5, etc.

On the plus side the Lord of War steelbook coming out next month looks pretty cool. Will be picking it up.
