Default As a fan of "A Silent Voice".

Hi, As the title says, I'm a huge fan of "A Silent Voice"! To that point, I've bought 2 Japanese blu ray editions (Regular and Special). They had to be Japanese editions because I personally avoid forced subtitles and watch in raw Japanese after years of study. I'm on a pretty high level, so I come to you to ask the following in a nutshell.

I'd really like to advocate for a 4K edition of this fantastic, and very visual film. Does anyone even know a process to reach out for things like this? The studio was the famed Kyoto Animation, the blu ray was released by Pony Canyon, I believe.

It was a 2016 film, and it looks so good it practically begs to get a 4K edition! Long have I wondered what it could be like if it was taken that far! Someone online even posted screen shots from their own attempted up scaling, and while a few showed off better than others, there is a massive potential in this film!

Some films get this treatment for anniversaries. So here I wonder things like

"Is there any reason to think the film couldn't get 4K release eventually?",

"Do we have to wait for something like the 10th anniversary?"

"Can fans reach out by email to anyone behind it?"

That sort of thing.

So here I am, just hoping there;s some kind of answer. At the very least that someone would take it up at some time. And obviously we're talking about a release straight from those involved in Japan, because forced subtitles would be an issue! But if it were to happen, I have faith that those responsible in Japan would be the ones to put it out. The quality of the film, and it's releases have been handled with great care and attention.

I would also like to mention, the film only has a few days left on Netflix, and those who can appreciate it would be doing themselves a favor by seeing it. Then if you're so inclined, American blu rays are available to the American viewer who would use either dub or sub.

Thank you for your time!

The Japanese release is not great.

For the best picture and sound quality you have to import the Italian release which does not have forced subtitles.

Picture quality is noticeably improved over the Japanese release because the color banding issues have been addressed. Sound quality of the Japanese track is also a lot better on Italian BD because the Japanese BD uses a faulty dynamic range compressed track (international releases from 2017 such as the UK and HK BDs also use the faulty Japanese track).

The only way to convince KyoAni to do more 4K releases is probably by buying their Violet Evergarden Movie UHD.
