Default Ninja Gaiden 4

Team Ninja and PlatinumGames working on Ninja Gaiden 4, releasing in 2025 on Xbox Series and PC (and probably more).

Quote:
In a surprise announcement during today’s Developer_Direct, fans were thrilled to see the reveal of NINJA GAIDEN 4, a brand-new mainline entry that arrives in Fall this year after a 13-year hiatus (co-developed with legendary action studio PlatinumGames), alongside the surprise release of NINJA GAIDEN 2 Black, a remaster of the classic 2008 game. We were lucky enough to get an exclusive interview with Fumihiko Yasuda, Head of Team NINJA and NINJA GAIDEN 4 producer at Koei Tecmo Games, as well as Yuji Nakao, NINJA GAIDEN 4’s producer and director from PlatinumGames, to learn much more about this long-awaited new chapter for NINJA GAIDEN.

Very pleasantly surprised to see this. Curious and slightly leery about Platinum making it, they've had a lot of staff leave in recent years and I'm worried they might not have the juice anymore. Interested to see how the new ninja plays and how they split up the campaigns between him and Ryu.

Fall (whenever that is) can't come quick enough.

I love Ninja Gaiden 1 and 2. I was playing about with the Xenia emulator a week ago spcifically to play Ninja Gaiden 2, but it was running at like 2 fps.

I think NG2 was very unfairly treated when it came out and the staicase fight is one of my favourite gaming moments. Especially when you use the Vigorian Flails.

I thought Phantom Blade 0 looked good but Team Ninja AND Platinum Games together!

I might need to make a space on my top ten favourite games list.

Following the Xbox Games Showcase, many players began looking at pre-order pages for physical copies of upcoming Xbox games like Ninja Gaiden 4 and The Outer Worlds 2 only to see that the boxed Xbox copies do not contain a disc at all. Instead, it’s just a box with a digital download code, largely defeating the purpose of buying a physical copy. However, the PS5 versions of these games do have discs, creating an interesting discrepancy. Xbox fans are understandably upset that these games are only being sold in a true physical format on PS5. This also comes after Xbox raised prices on games, so The Outer Worlds 2 is $80 for nothing more than a digital code.

I wonder if they'll use this game's success to gauge the demand for a return of 'Dead or Alive'? I was thinking the other day that we don't need a new game, just DoA5 remastered. Include all DLC characters, costumes, stages, music released for that game and give it a fresh coat of re-render paint and I will gladly pay full game price for that. If they want to add a bit more content in the form of the new characters (Nico and Tamaki) and some stages from DoA6, that's fine too. But really, no need to overthink or build anything from scratch, just forget most of DoA6 and pick up with where you left off with the best game in the series.

I think it would be cool if they did something like DoA Dimensions, which was DoA 4 with a guided story mode that covered all 4 games. I wonder who would make it though? Itagaki is long gone and Shimbori jumped ship to work on Tekken 8. Hopefully Team Ninja still has someone on the team who can direct/produce a good fighting game.
