United Kingdom Zombie Flesh Eaters 2 (Zombi 3) (1988) - September 21, 2015

Zombi 3 Blu-ray PRE-ORDER

Figure I'd give this its own thread. From 88 Films:

Quote:
A little weekend surprise from 88 Films.

Forthcoming in our Italian Collection is Lucio Fulci's iconic ZOMBIE FLESH EATERS 2 (AKA ZOMBI 3) - re-mastered from the original HD materials, uncut and uncensored, in a stunning new restoration!

http://88-films.myshopify.com/collections/frontpage/products/zombie-flesh-eaters-2-blu-ray-the-italian-collection-9-pre-order-now-this-title-will-be-released-21-09-2015

SYNOPSIS AND SPECS:
The late, great Lucio Fulci (with a little uncredited help from ZOMBIE CREEPING FLESH helmer Bruno Mattei) returned to his living dead roots with ZOMBI 3 – the long awaited sequel to ZOMBIE FLESH EATERS (AKA ZOMBI 2). However, just as ZOMBI 2 was inspired by DAWN OF THE DEAD, with ZOMBI 3 Fulci spins his own terrific take on another Hollywood hit: RETURN OF THE LIVING DEAD. The end result is a fast-paced, plasma-packed popcorn romp in which contagious fumes consequent in an invasion of flesh-feasting ghouls. A classic carnage-ridden splatter caper in its own right, ZOMBI 3 is ripe for reappraisal and arrives on BluRay in a worldwide HD debut that looks finger-licking fabulous! For Fulci fans it’s a no-brainer – this gory, gut-tearing gem is an essential addition to your collection.

Never seen this one, but it's exactly the sort of title I'll grab blind.

Judgement be damned.

I always enjoyed this bad movie review of Zombi 3:

It makes it sound awful. But I'll buy it anyway...

Some bits are cool, some bits are pretty awful

I think this was from 1988? and it's definitely not of the good Fulci. But it is a guilty pleasure.

Odds of this being region locked? I'd love to get my hands on this one!

It's a great pick up, one I didn't expect from 88 Films, considering it recycles shots from the earlier film. Or perhaps I'm confusing it with the third?

I am not sure about CC's but I can confirm that if you use Paypal the money is taken immediately, I pre-ordered Anthropophagous a few weeks ago using Paypal and the money was taken straight away which I personally don't mind.

As for the film Zombie Flesh Eaters 2, it is TERRIBLE.

By the way I also really like that artwork for Bloodstained Shadow, it's a film I have never seen or had even heard of before 88 Films announced it but it looks like a good Giallo and I really want to see it now.

If all the usually cut footage is getting the HD treatment, too (i.e. this won't be another composite), then this release should be pretty sweet. A couple new extras, too.

SHUT YOUR FILTHY MOUTH. This movie is awesome.

I hope this ends up being miraculously region-free. This movie has a lot of nostalgia power for me.

Nice to see this getting a release. I used to own it on DVD but I admit I struggled to make it through this movie without nodding off, it is easily one of Fulci's worst movies and not in a good bad way. I also question how much of it he really did direct and hopefully the extras on this new edition will shed some light on that. Alongside Zombi Holocaust this is really bottom of the barrel zombie schlock, but still cool to see these movies get HD releases and in the case of Zombi 3 the score by Stefano Mainetti is highly enjoyable.

I thought it was gonna be a sweet big box VHS pre-order bonus when I first saw it.

Which would've been radtastic.

Oh man, day 1 buy. This film is unbelievably awful, and not cheesy b-move awful, Zombi 3 is on another level, it's so ineptly made and totally nonsensical it defies belief. Love it.

I forgot to mention how cool the poster art is for this one, kinda makes you wish the movie reflected that lol.

To answer my own question, it seems like 88 Films has only done region free releases in the past, so odds are this will be region free. Victory!

EDIT: Their web store says region code B for this one, though...

Pre ordered. I absolutely love this movie. Yes it's terrible. But it's so good too. I myself have always wondered about the production of this film and there was a pretty definitive article about it in Fangoria three to five years ago that had a pretty cool interview with the actors (who maligned everything about working on this set) talking about how bad the Philippine zombie extras were treated. Something about zombie extras having to jump off a twenty foot wall, and they would break their feet but keep jumping for the shots as they couldn't lose their job and some other horrendous set stories. I often think that the behind the scenes stories are more fun then the movies that come of them especially in the Italian horror genre.
