Someone please tell me where I can order new steelbooks online for a descent price that will arrive to me UNDAMAGED...
Amazon stinks big time. I ordered 3 steelbooks from them and they shipped them in a brown looking grocery bag. Really sad.. All 3 where destroyed... Ive tried deep discount as well and they are no better, they use those sticky brown mailers and they dont work either. Is there anywhere they uses actual boxes????? What does WAL-Mart and Target ship theirs in? |

If you're looking for Sony Steelbooks, their ebay store Please Rewind ships well from what I've heard. I saw someone mention getting them wrapped in bubble wrap with a box when they got 4. They usually have the best prices for their SB's too, and currently have a $10 off $75 code.
https://www.ebay.com/str/pleaserewindus As for other places. I believe smaller retail shops like orbitdvd package well. Their selection isn't as wide as major retailers though, and prices not as competitive. https://www.orbitdvd.com/search?type...st&q=steelbook Last edited by MifuneFan; 04-16-2024 at 03:26 PM. |

It's a crap-shoot, basically. No retailer I have used (and I think I've used just about ALL of them) consistently ships items "boxed" other than boutique dealers like Diabolik, Orbit or Grindhouse. And the problem with them is that they don't always stock the mass-market steelbooks like you'd buy at Walmart or Target. They're focused on small-label and import stuff.
I just keep returning things to Amazon until I finally get an undamaged item. It took me FOUR tries with one of the Indiana Jones steels but I eventually lucked out. Make use of their (seemingly) unlimited return policy. One of the few actual benefits of Prime. ![]() |

I'm astonished so many people have such rotten experience getting steels (or movies in general) from amazon. I've never had a damaged order from them. Maybe I'm lucky enough to live in a region where the staff take proper care and handling with their deliveries?

You also have to now what is available and what are the streets dates. For example if you decide to buy 4 different titles; so that your order is shipped in a box, if one is a pre-order and you are not ordering from Grindhousevideo, DiabolikDVD or Orbit, most likely your order will be slip and sent in bubble mailers and arrived damaged. The only drawback to doing this is for pre-orders that may change the street date/release date. If ordering from Amazon, order qty of 4 titles and make sure they are in stock with the same delivery date and they will ship them in a box. ![]() ![]() |

I have bought quite a few from Walmart since Best Buy stopped selling steelbooks. They use thin cardboard mailers but add an extra layer or two of carboard inside for protection and so far all shipments have arrived undamaged. As others have noted if you order several in stock steelbooks a box is typically the norm no matter the retailer.

I guess I have had bad luck. The past 12 steelbooks I have ordered from amazon all were damaged. They use this stupid brown mailer that has no padding at all! Its like the brown grocery bags at the market. Its that thin. No protection at all.

One thing I do with Amazon (especially for overseas Amazon orders) is I get the gift option. That gurantees it will be boxed.

I have thought about that, but the other part of me says Amz is so easy to do returns, I’ll just order another one if it’s damaged. |

If you do Amazon, you can always pick "its a gift" option and there's a higher chance of it arriving in a box than anything else. |

This is why we need a store to actually walk into and be able to look at what you are buying first and walk out with a brand new perfect copy. Which is the way it should be when we are spending the kind of money we are spending. Since Best Buy quit selling, prices has went up, there are not as many things on sale, many new releases take weeks to get beyond the release date, and by going online, you get many damaged items that you have to fool with returning.. It really stinks not having a store to go into to buy physical media. |

when I sell my Steel books I place them in a small box and carefully wrap them. Each SB comes with a plastic cover for protection. When I sell discs with slips , I do the same. PM me if there is something you are looking for. I will see what I have and can do for you.

Its funny, because I've read horror stories about US people ordering from Zavvi UK and getting their steelbooks obliterated, yet all the orders I've received from them have been pristine lol.
I think it is what everyone says, it is a crapshoot, even ordering blu's, dvd's, vinyl records, etc, is all a crapshoot. I've had vinyl records shipped to me from the actual source that have come in damaged, I've had Amazon ship me movies without a slipcase (maybe used?), I've had books come in bent to hell, ripped, you name it. Any time you order online it is a risk. I've been lucky, but I also had to accept items sometimes. |

I've used many of the major sites, and although very few of the steelbooks received have been damaged, the best site in my experience has been Atomic. They always ship in a cardboard box with multiple layers of bubble wrap. Also, they ship items very quickly, and their stock is good for a smaller label.
