I'm all for it if they could actually adapt some of the stories out of The Silmarillion. There's some great stories in there that could be incredible put on film if done right.

Maybe Arwen dies and then Aragon goes to an island to pout. A new hero goes to find Frodo and Gandalf to search for Aragon.

Have to agree with this. I LOVE the movies, don’t get me wrong, but there’s definitely a good amount that they got wrong translating it from book to screen (especially in Return of the King. Denethor was completely mishandled, and what was up with Frodo turning on Sam?)

I'm a huge fan of the books, but I like the movies enough too. I'm not sure what the point of your post is though. I think most people are aware that the source material has been around for several decades now. I mean, his films turned a whole new generation onto the source material. Not a bad thing at all.
