Master filmmaker Robert Wise began his career with horror classics The Curse of the Cat People and The Body Snatcher for producer Val Lewton. His career would go on to include westerns, thrillers, science fiction and musicals, earning him two Academy Awards for Best Director. In 1963 he returned to his Lewtonian roots with the classic ghost story The Haunting; in 1977 he returned once more with the supernatural thriller Audrey Rose.

All Bill and Jane Templeton wish for is a quiet, peaceful life with their 11-year-old daughter Ivy. But their dreams turn to nightmares as Ivy is besieged first by terrifying ‘memories’ of events that never occurred... and then by a mysterious stranger who stalks her every move, and claims that Ivy was in fact his daughter in another life.

Released in the wake of The Exorcist and The Omen, Audrey Rose is an intelligent, heartfelt drama that approaches its subject with an open mind and seriousness of intent that caught many off guard but typifies Wise’s previous genre forays. Sensitively played by a sterling cast at the top of their game, this underseen gem deserves a place on the shelf of any fan of classic horror.

Interesting. Did not see this coming. I might check it out again as I haven't seen it in years and this should look great coming from Arrow. However, I remember the film being quite dull which is why I've put off re-watching it but a new scan is a pretty good excuse to check it out again.

I figured Sandpiper would of nabbed this considering that they've been gobbling up a lot of these former MGM-TT titles. I'm glad though they didn't since this one was in desperate need of a new master.

Finally…a modern horror masterpiece gets…well, not Criterion as I had predicted, not even Scream Factory. Surprised Arrow got this one, but this is horror at its finest, even one notch better than POLTERGEIST. Although there is very little music score, this is one film that will leave you shaking in the end. It is a four-star epic…horror at its best!

Thankfully I didn't buy the Twilight Time release. Only now I'm waiting for the new Arrow before opening the Imprint one. No doubt it'll greatly improve the PQ, might as well watch the best version for my first viewing.

I basically have a world of doppelgangers over here

I'm curious about this one, I love this period of Horror. Plus this seems like one of those films who's release Arrow will knock out of the park. I'm definitely going to get this one, probably when the Arrow 50% off sale is taking place at B&N.
