or Muppets Take Manhattan (hinted at on a SPHE UHD poll), Hotel Transylvania 1&2 (3 is on 4K, would've made sense to tie in with the fourth film) or hell even something like Surfs Up!

If I don't hear The Lees of Old Virginia blasting over my head in Atmos, it's not as the filmmakers intended.

Odd they couldn’t include the original mono audio on the 4K?

And while this film has its followers, very interesting choice for 4K from Sony

That is strange. Sony's been really good lately about including the original audio track on their UHDs.

The theatrical cut would be nice too, but I guess the director didn't like that version, so it's been "Lucas'd" out of existence.

While not in 4K, the theatrical is at least included on the BD, as well as the Laserdisc version (in SD). I don't think the previous BD included either

The original theatrical cut was never included on any blu-ray. The first blu-ray had two differing extended versions, which i could never figure out what the difference is (and they differ by about a minute!)

Yeah, I suppose that's better than nothing. We do get pretty much every cut there is of this movie, just not all in 4K.

I have a feeling the Laserdisc cut will be non-anamorphic just like the Ghostbusters preview version and the Star Wars Trilogy theatrical cuts from the 2006 DVDs.

According to IMDB, 1776 was shot in ultra-widescreen anamorphic 35mm. That sounds like a good choice to me. I'm also a fan.

I wouldn't call 2.35 anamorphic "ultra wide".

2.35 is ultra-wide as far as I'm concerned. That's why I said it. Let's not argue semantics.

Did an original mono track ever accompany the Director's Cut on home video? Maybe one doesn't exist? They make note that the original mono is with the theatrical version on BD, so I imagine they would have included it if it were available.

Exactly. It seems the film didn't get its Director's Cut until DVD and that DVD only has 5.1 audio for both versions. It seems like Sony are including original audio here, what with the mono on the theatrical and stereo on the Laserdisc cut, the only issues are that the Laserdisc cut is in SD and that the theatrical cut is only HD and not on a 4K UHD disc.
