Was this licensed from MGM (who obtained US distribution rights from the Orion ownership of Samuel Goldwyn Company)? If so, this might be the first of MGM titles we'll see from them, as KL Insider said a while back they tried to get this title but found out it was with another label.
OTOH, trailer footage looks like it will be the same transfer as the UK Second Sight BD (as Film Movement doesn't do restorations themselves and utilize whatever masters the rights holder has). |

Also, this is very clearly not the same transfer as the Second Sight release. A quick look at the trailer, and comparison to the UK BD screenshots shows as much. It's much improved in color, and detail, and that's just based on the compressed youtube trailer too, so it'll be even better on BD.

I love Film Movement. Every release I've bought from them has been top quality. (Violent Cop, Boiling Point, Hana-bi, Outrage Coda, the Great Silence, All About Lily Cho-Chou, and Heroes Shed No Tears) They don't release a lot, but again truly quality releases.

I absolutely love this film. Hopefully the upcoming Blu-ray turns out to be the superior release.
Also It seems like it's a new 2K restoration. Quote:

Darn I had just purchased the Second Sight release (which is already pretty nice looking)

Okey Dokey, so I had emailed Film Movement (via their general inquires address) questions about the transfer. The rep said they are using the same Pinewood restoration as the UK disc, but with the Pinewood "restored in 2013" screen + BBFC card and ITC film Distributors logo unfortunately removed. The color timing looked darker in the trailer due to the underlying master having different gamma levels from their own encode.

Made in the town where I grew up. I've had a brown coffee in Crollas, waited by the big clock and eaten chips in that phone-box.

Got mine in this past Friday, watched it that night. Looked good to me. Grain is there, but not overwhelmingly so. Along with a French dub, it has a choice of the original theatrical audio or an alternate US sdtk which I was unaware of there having been one.

Mine's arriving today and will be fired up in the HT shortly after arrival. Really love this film. Here is a nice review. Interesting that there seems to be no mention of the sequel, Gregory's Two Girls, which I've never seen let alone even knew existed until few years ago. https://trailersfromhell.com/gregorys-girl/
