Paramount will be releasing Pretty in Pink (1986) on 4K UHD on February 11th! It has an approved remastered with HDR-10 Dolby Vision from director Howard Deutch.

Their handling of the presents line continues to absolutely confound me. This was part of the presents line as a Blu-ray, but is not as a 4K? I know they were doing that early on with titles like trading places. But To Catch a Thief was a presents Blu-ray and recently got a presents 4K. Just so random.

I kinda get a kick out of the fact that Paramount brings in the A-Team to encode things like Anchorman, Team America and Wayne's World but gives the high brow stuff like Saving Private Ryan, Liberty Valance and Once Upon A Time In the West to Cletus, the cocaine snuffling mental patient who encodes UHD discs on the side to feed his habit.

Not surprising at all considering it's been 4K DV on iTunes for a few years now. I'm hoping Some Kind Of Wonderful is up next.

You'd think Arrow would've released Sixteen Candles around the time they did Weird Science. The Breakfast Club is inevitable. Not so sure about the others, mainly cause they don't have existing 4K masters, but never say never.

It's true that Paramount is unreliable and often disappointing when it comes to overall quality. But at least they're releasing movies that often end up under $20 even at release. Meanwhile Sony and Disney seem to be pushing us to the brink with pricing. Right now this is $16.57 with the coupon at MU. It makes the upgrade less frustrating, especially if it includes the blu-ray like this one (and Once Upon a Time in the West...but not like Chinatown).
