Take a nonstop flight with an all-star cast to a world of tension-filled human drama in this trend-setting box-office blockbuster. Based on Arthur Hailey’s runaway bestseller, the emotion-charged adventure stars Burt Lancaster as the manager of a glamorous international airport who must juggle personal crises with professional responsibilities as he attempts to keep his blizzard-torn facility open to rescue a bomb-damaged jetliner. The lavish Ross Hunter (Portrait in Black) production co-stars a veritable Who’s Who of Hollywood’s most glittering personalities including Dean Martin, Jean Seberg, Jacqueline Bisset, George Kennedy, Van Heflin, Maureen Stapleton, Lloyd Nolan and Helen Hayes in the role that won her a second Oscar (Best Supporting Actress, 1970). Nominated for 10 Academy Awards including Best Picture and Best Screenplay for legendary writer-director George Seaton (Miracle on 34th Street, The Proud and Profane), this movie milestone remains a gripping trip from suspenseful take-off to senses-shattering landing

"Something hit us...the crew is dead...help us, please, please help us!" With these terrifying words, 22 of Hollywood’s greatest stars find themselves aboard a pilotless jumbo jet headed on a collision course with destruction in the nerve-chilling sequel to the greatest disaster movie ever made. Charlton Heston is in the cockpit for this incredible adventure as the only man who can save the 747 and its passengers when it’s hit in midair by a private plane. Karen Black is the chief stewardess who must act as the blinded pilot’s hands and eyes to take control of the plane or die trying. Myrna Loy, Helen Reddy, Linda Blair, Dana Andrews, Efrem Zimbalist Jr., Sid Caesar, George Kennedy (recreating his acclaimed Airport role) and Gloria Swanson (playing herself in her final film) are also aboard trying to survive the deadly skies of this high-flying thriller helmed by veteran director Jack Smight (Harper, Midway).

Take a luxurious, privately-owned 747 jumbo jet full of VIP’s. Load it with a cargo of priceless art treasures and send it flying over the hazardous Bermuda Triangle. Add a few desperate hijackers for good measure and you’ve got the makings of one of the most harrowing adventure stories ever put on film. James Stewart is the philanthropic owner of the doomed plane and Jack Lemmon is the fearless pilot risking death at every turn in an attempt to save the luxury airliner when it is skyjacked and sent crashing to the ocean’s floor. Aboard for the ill-fated trip are Lee Grant, Brenda Vaccaro, Joseph Cotten, Olivia de Havilland, Darren McGavin, Christopher Lee and returning Airport co-star George Kennedy. All face danger in the air and beneath the sea in the most thrilling Airport movie of them all, directed by action-adventure ace Jerry Jameson (Superdome, Raise the Titanic).

I just watched these recently. Not the worst, but a bit over the top. I don't know if I'd buy them because I only watched them twice since they've been released (and saw one of them in the theater). I think fans would love them, though.

Fantastic, I have always wanted to see these films.

My only concern is whether Airport will be restored from a 70mm negative or a 35mm IP like the blu-ray was to my understanding.

Far and Away being not from the 70mm negative has me nervous for this.

Universal has been touring a 70mm restoration of Airport for a couple of years now. It is imperative that this new release is sourced from that.

I really can't wait for these. I'll be pre-ordering the first three ASAP (and finally ditching the dreadful fourth. It's haunted my library for nearly 20 years)!

Never thought I'd see the airport movies get the 4k treatment, "airport 75"s amazing cinematography will be great to see in the 747 eye candy !

The plane interiors will look great but there's an awful lot of rear projection used in this - and throughout the series, really - that may not translate well to 4K. I'm a big fan of the series so I'm still looking forward to a 4K reissue but I'm cautiously optimistic about actual improvements in PQ. Also, bummer that they won't have access to the TV versions. That will make this release a little less special.

"Airport75" has been a guilty pleasure of mine since seeing it in London on it's opening night back in December 74, must have seen it a dozen times on the big screen, ( even have the soundtrack and movie framed poster in my den) I'm a very happy old geezer today !

For some reason I keep thinking SF released this on Blu-ray rather than Universal themselves. Am I the only one?? Is this a Mandela effect

Maybe you're just thinking of The Irwin Allen disaster collection or the Earthquake release?

Maybe. I suppose it just felt like something they would have released in a set with extras, etc..

Love to see "earthquake" get a 4k upgrade and of course "towering inferno" ( slightly off topic) certainly feeling optimistic about these disaster flicks getting that had treatment now.

Glad they're talking about doing individual releases - I'd love to get the first two in UHD (ESPECIALLY if they're going back to a 65/70mm source for the original) but I'm fine with keeping the latter two in HD.

Perhaps Earthquake will follow since Shout released the BD. This is of course if they still have the rights to do so. I also agree with Towering Inferno and Poseidon Adventure would also be welcomed but Disney holds them hostage.
