Cool Unban "Cereal At Midnight"

Cereal At Midnight did nothing wrong, other than ruffle a few reviewers' feathers, and post valid criticism outside of the website...

It's obvious that ban was based on a misunderstanding, and the reviewer had an issue with Heath, which itself is embarrassing.

Don't throw stones when we've got AI reviews on the site!

Heath is a legit reviewer, and has actually been featured in commentary for several releases (e.g. Jotsticks). Perhaps the admins could reflect, and see that banning Cereal At Midnight was more about petty drama than actual site violations. Heath only provides positive content.

PS: Shout out to the distributors who have accounts here, and promote their stuff!

I used to watch his videos until he had some ridiculous takes and just blocked him from my recommended.
That's your preference, Nunab18.

Does that deserve a site-wide ban though?

Heath has a relationship with many distributors, like Kino. Not allowing him to share info (beyond his YT videos) on this site does a disservice to our community.

No, I wouldn't say it deserves a ban. I haven't watched his videos in over a year maybe. I am out of the loop on his content though, no idea why he was banned. Can you elaborate on why? Kinda curious at this point.

Edit: The reason my original quoted comment is gone, is because I realized I was being overly negative for no real reason, so I deleted it... But I see you got to it first

The gist I got was "self-promotion" and/or his username was in some way taking views away from this site's (AI) reviews, since it's the same name as his YT channel.

I'm sure he could explain more, if he could post now. It was May 2023; he made a patreon video about it...

Hoping more prominent folks like KL Support can stick up for Heath. It's absurd how petty reviewer grievances targeted him.

PS: I have no personal relation to Heath, other than being a fan of his content for many years. If you come at me though, I'll defend him as one of the best YT movie commentators/reviewers around.

Interesting. Unfortunately everything appears to be conjecture unless we have primary party to elaborate on it (from my perspective anyway, I'm guessing I can't access the patreon video, and I'm a nobody here) I can appreciate you sticking up for someone you follow though.

I can only say what I know, and what Heath has shared publicly.

Simple fact, the mods/reviewers here banned him out of jealousy or to prevent vocal/alternative views. It's especially interesting that other YT reviewers who use the same (or close enough) usernames on their channels are allowed to post freely, but Heath's was "self-promotion."

If the reviewers on this site had any conviction (or balls), they'd welcome alternative views; especially if it drives traffic to this website...Clearly Heath's ban was all about ego.

No one from this site's mod/reviewer team have explained or posted about why Cereal at Midnight was banned, so I'll take him for his word.

BTW: Calling Out Neil Lumbard Reviews

Heath is a real person, with real documented opinions on film history. He's done many interviews and commentaries on legit releases that many of us own (e.g. MVD). He should be welcomed here, not "blackballed."

Even if they were unbanned, would they even post here? Like they shared some negative experiences with the site in this video he released after Neil Lumbard blocked him on Twitter (he later unblocked him).
I didn't know who they were until that incident on Twitter + that video, I don't regularly follow their content however.

You're not wrong in asking that question. He only had 30 posts over two years on the site, up until the ban about three years ago. Note that he did NOT self-promote his channel or website; the only thing they could get him for was his username, which is absurd.

Doesn't that make his ban all the more odd? Read his posts, and it's obvious Heath wasn't a trouble-maker. It all comes back to my original theory about certain folks having too much of an ego, and simply being butthurt.

PS: I won't comment on the Neil Lumbard situation, but there's another discussion which I link above.
