NOBODY 2: SEQUEL BEING WRITTEN, MORE ACTION FOR CONNIE NIELSEN? EXCLUSIVE!

Noboby was one of the biggest (and best) surprises of the year, reinventing Bob Odenkirk as a legit action icon. In fact, despite opening in the midst of a pandemic (when theaters were actually closed in much of North America) the film still grossed an excellent $26 million domestically (it's actually the eleventh highest grossing movie of the year domestically), and more than doubled that take internationally - all on a $16 million budget.
With the obvious hope that it'll turn into a John Wick-style franchise, apparently work has already begun on a script for a sequel, a fact confirmed to me exclusively by director Ilya Naishuller in an interview we had about the movie's home video release.
"There's plenty of stories that can be told in this world, with the character Hutch. I know that Derek (Kolstad - the writer) has begun work on the sequel," revealed Naishuller. However, he was quick to qualify that the movie is by no means greenlit, and that he personally only considers a movie greenlit when he's on the set shooting. However, he noted that audiences did indeed turn up to the see the film and that critics loved it (certified fresh on Rotten Tomatoes with 84%)
"Whether it'll happen, time will tell, but all the necessary seeds have been planted," he added.
Naishuller, whose full interview with JoBlo will be out next week, also seemed pleased when I mentioned that Connie Nielsen, who played Hutch's wife, should get in on the action next time. "Well, I like the way you're thinking Chris because you're right on the MONEY!"
So there you have it. Are you psyched for a NOBODY 2? I'd personally love to see it grow into this John Wick-style franchise for Odenkirk. Nobody is currently avaialble to own digitally and hits DVD/Blu-ray/4K June 22nd!
Nobody 2 is on the way. After teases from various people attached to the first film over the past few years, Nobody star Connie Nielsen tells us the sequel is happening.
"Yeah, we are doing it but I can't tell you anything about it yet," Nielsen said in a recent chat with ComicBook.com.
Though little is known about the film, it's all but guaranteed Nielsen will reprise her role opposite Bob Odenkirk's Hutch. The Better Call Saul star said last February he thought a sequel was a given after the performance of the first film.
"We are working on making that happen," Odenkirk told Empire Magazine.
Good grab, I’ve been impressed with Tjahjanto’s work, granted his work has always just fallen short of greatness at times. Perhaps a bigger budget might just iron out those rough edges.
Chris Lloyd is still going after all these years of acting, which is impressive. I think he's in his mid 80's now. Yes, 1938, now 85 years old in 2024. Retirement? I think acting is what keeps him going.
Nobody 1, I could buy it for $5 new, but will get around to it eventually. I saw it in theaters and thought it was good enough. Nothing great but generally entertaining with decent action. I thought the end was kind of interesting where his father joins him in battle. That was cool.
