I just got a 90K and these come out.

I would've considered the new X93L.

Dang.

Hey, there are new models every year. Some people will feel the same about getting the X90L when the X90M is announced, and so on. It never ends. You gotta stop worrying about the FOMO and jump in at some point, if you want a new TV at all.

I'm feeling optimistic about the X90L. An increase in local dimming zones ("up to 60%"), a brightness boost ("up to 30%"), a refined local dimming algorithm and improved build quality on top of that.

Just about everyone who's seen it says it's a significant improvement over its predecessors. Sounds like it could be a great TV.

As beautiful as the TVs in the above video are, I have my heart set on saving up for a great OLED TV Sony.

I’m curious about the X93L’s Performance with Mini-LED. Mainly the 65” inch size. I have a feeling Sony made the X93 separate from the X95 lineup to avoid backlash because it probably has a much lower count of dimming zones.

It'll be interesting to see if it is an improvement over the X95K or if you need to get the X95L for that.

AVPasión have uploaded an unboxing and impressions article/video on the X90L, with a review to follow soon.

They like it a whole lot. Translated from Spanish to English:

Quote:
Although in today's video we will only see the assembly part and first impressions, the truth is that we have already been able to test it a little more thoroughly and the impressions exceed expectations. Last year's model left us cold - even the MiniLED model, the X95K -, but the truth is that we have seen that the blacks are very deep and an almost complete absence of blooming, in addition to a clear improvement in the local dimming system.

As an appetizer, we have also noticed other improvements such as a higher light output, an even more relaxed ABL and also a refinement of the processing carried out by the XR chip, less artificial than other years but without losing its essence of a very three-dimensional image. That way, for more details you will have to wait for the second video to be able to see all this in a much more extensive way.

Hopefully, X90L got more respect from Sony R&D, and it'll show in reviews and sales.

For too many years, potential Sony mid-tier customers have been brow-beaten with next tier's X-Wide Angle and X-Anti Reflection.

Both lines mistakenly ignore 40s TVs.

X90L has neither X-Wide Angle nor X-Anti Reflect. It's the X93L and X95L that will have both.

Wow, after 85" it's close to $500 an inch

got to admit that would be amazing for letterboxed films though.

I'm at an a/v trade convention in Orlando, FL and spent a lot of time with Sony on all of their new 2023 TVs and a/v products. Here's a picture of my with the new 98" X90L TV:

It's funny how, to me at least, big TVs always look small somehow when I see them next to a person in a picture or video. I envision them looking bigger.

On the other hand, when I see them myself in person, that tends to be when it hits home how large they actually are.

I know that. The hope is for the mid-tier X90L to significantly improve upon its non X-Wide Angle and non X-Anti Reflection predecessors, which have been underwhelming for several years now.

This really is a great TV that produces a very beautiful image. I've owned it for about a month now and continue to be impressed every night when we pop in a movie. The colors, detail & accuracy just leave me in awe. You could spend thousands more for a set that completely eliminates blooming (which is really not an issue with this TV, it's so minor) or a set that can be viewed way off-angle (but who watches movies off-angle?, not me). I'm very, very happy with this set.

A month late, but I realized I never posted the Digital Trends review here, so I'll share it for posterity:

I ordered the 75" and it will arrive next week. My stand is 56" but what I'm reading on specifications is the legs are 56 1/4". I'm not sure how the legs are measured to know if my stand will be ok or slightly too small. Does anyone have this size on the stand or know about how they measure it to know if this is an issue?

I called Sony and they said you have a different placement for the feet that is closer together. I cant find anything about this for the US version can anyone confirm that theirs has this function?
