Timeless is the word with this show, and it is too insulting to narrow down a "oh the best bit is..."

There are not many episodes where you don't have a good, good laugh at this show.

I have tried showing this show to my American friends numerous times. They just don't find it funny and I feel like I spend all my time explaining everything Del-Boy says.

Oh and as a sailor, I do say, "During the War..." when telling old Navy stories.

Been a life long fan. Like someone else said, it’s too limiting to list favourite moments. The writing is so clever and the acting and comedy timing first rate.
I really miss the show at this time of year also.

To answer the question about Grandad or Uncle Albert, I have to say Buster. Even though Leonard Pierce was excellent also.

Great character. The guy was offered the Delboy role but turned it down due to theatre commitments if I remember correctly. Would have been a very different take I think. He is a super actor in his own right but I can’t imagine anyone else as Del.

Was shocked to discover that he had only been in three episodes.

Such a good character Slater!

Great show, grew up watching it. It actually gets better each season. I have the box set of the original and feature length specials. Now you have mentioned them I need to dig them out and re-watch. My (American) wife loves it too, although she struggles with some of the dialogue sometimes.

I bought the collectors tin with the Union Jack which contained several specials. I will post a pic at some point.

I remember finding it in Woolworths lol.

Freaking great show. Hilarious. Always think of my Dad with this show he absolutely loves it. And of course especially around Christmas. Due family problems I won't elaborate we don't talk anymore but I still watch one or two Christmas specials in his honor Bought him the M&S board game a couple of years ago (we live in Australia now) hopefully we will play it together one day!

This time next year we'll be millionaires!

Love the series, only Whatever Happened To The Likely Lads?, Blackadder and Seinfeld hold similar places in my affections. Unfortunately it's a huge mess on DVD, episodes are cut and redubbed, mostly for music rights although some episodes are shortened versions broadcast in America. You're better off with VHS rips. This is a really good site http://www.ofah.net/blog/only-fools-...s-cuts-part-9/

Greatest scene

I love Only Fools and Horses too, and having them all on DVD I can say I enjoy watching all the episodes - with perhaps one exception.....A Royal Flush. For me this is the weakest of all the episodes they've ever done.

I take my hat off to John Sullivan for writing such a great comedy series.

I enjoyed that episode. It was Delboy at his very worst and he really put Rodney through the mill. It was one of the darker episodes but that’s why I liked it.

The worst is Strangers on the Shore. Yep, what's funnier than a terrified guy who doesn't speak English who thinks he has been kidnapped? It makes for an uncomfortable, bi-polar experience when having the ashes of Albert being scattered in the same episode. The show was tired by this point, and really shouldn't have come back after the 1996 finale.

It's a damn good job that they followed it up with Sleepless in Peckham, saving the show from going out on a turd and providing a story with a superb reveal/payoff, along with a chance for Jason & Lyndhurst to playing things like the old days.

The recent box sets are cut, due to music rights, which really ruins a lot of episodes.
Luckily I have the older uncut versions, to enjoy over and over again

I gather the version on the DVD is shorter than the one originally broadcast. I don't remember seeing this episode when it was originally shown, so I don't know what's missing. However the full version was on VHS apparently - very strange.
