Rocky just turned 45. Might be that.

Only question would be why not announce it on the actual anniversary.

Huge, in this context, is a subjective term. I'd say they've already announced some pretty big titles.

Genuinely huge would be THE TERMINATOR.

Rocky was already confirmed impossible if I recall right. Terminator also I think due to Cameron. Maybe Robocop?

Didn't they do a 4K remaster job a little while back for the current BD? Use that, if anything.

Has nothing to do with it, MGM wont ever license Rocky. That or Bond, their two biggest franchises.

No more Kino 4K pre-orders.

I’ve been burned twice with Silence of the Lambs & Invasion of the Body Snatchers.

If they can’t get on board with an encoding / compression facility that knows what they are doing they are just gonna ruin their entire line of upcoming 4K releases.

They even ruined the Silence of the Lambs 2.0 Stereo that ended up being a 5.1 Downmix.

I’m sick of amateur hour Kino BS

It’s been covered. Rocky and Terminator would be huge, because we all assumed they wouldn’t come from Kino. Only other thing I would consider to be huge is Annie Hall or a brand new 4K restoration of Paths of Glory!

Annie Hall or Manhattan would be much bigger/better news than any of the other potential titles floating around, at least for me. Annie Hall especially makes sense with its own 45th anniversary coming next year.

I just assumed Allen was considered untouchable these days.

I’m not familiar with Quiver Films, but they just put out a box set with Bullets Over Broadway, Mighty Aphrodite, Everyone Says I Love You, Celebrity, Small Time Crooks, Curse Of The Jade Scorpion, Hollywood Ending, and Anything Else. Not completely untouchable, anyway.

Never really want to watch Allen but at the same time I would be more likely to buy a barebones UHD than a barebones BD.

I'd rather buy a barebones UHD as well. Would totally pick-up Annie Hall too cuz it's fantastic.

Eh, if I like the film enough then I don't mind buying a barebones release (which I've done for quite a few Allen films funnily enough).

It's Paths of Glory. Unless the encode is totally screwed I'll grab this one. Don't have the Criterion yet, but I've been trying to get all of the Kubrick UHDs.
