Default Wow! New steelbook packaging from Amazon

Got two new steelbooks from Amazon today (Obi Wan and Andor) in two different packages. Both were in boxes and not packed in bubble wrap envelopes. Obi-Wan was in a fairly elaborate larger box. I thought it was from Arrow or vinegar syndrome when I first saw it.

Both were dent free.

Hope this is a new policy

I'd be impressed if Amazon did that. I liked how BB did package the Steelbooks right.

Unfortunately it's not always the quality of packaging from the retail outlet to the customer that solves the problem. The quality control exercised by the manufacturer before the steelbook is even shrink-wrapped is often far less than stellar.
When I used to purchase at my local BB I would make sure there were several copies, then I removed the wrap at the sales counter immediately after purchasing. On average I probably found defects about 20% of the time for an instant return/swap. Of course I was not willing to accept ANY defects. Even small dents or dings.
No longer possible for me to use that procedure now.
I recently ordered THE GUNS OF NAVARONE from Orbit and it was well packaged as usual but upon removing the wrap under the top of the !/4 slip was a one inch dent. Orbit gave me credit of course but I also see they have a notice where they will not accept returns on steels with only small damage, whatever that means.
I don't blame Orbit for doing that actually so from now on unless I order from someplace like Nova Media I will check Ebay for a highly rated site selling a particular steel in very good-no damage condition.

I’m as surprised as anyone.

I’ve always gotten the usual bubble wrap-envelopes but I order from Amazon cause I’ll send it back as many times as it takes to get a good one lol.

This was a nice surprise and I’m hoping they continue

I have a feeling this won’t be consistent though.

I got a standard movie a couple of weeks ago (non steelbook), and they sent it in a box. I got an order a few days later from Amz, and it was in their typical mailer.

I received Falcon and the Winter Solder in a padded envelope that was beat to hell and it was fine.

I received Moon Knight in a box with shipping paper to keep it safe and the front cover had the celophane wrapping ripped and a creased dent in it so it is all a crap shoot.

Got two books Saturday, both shipped on the same day, both from the same warehouse (Lexington, KY). One was in a thin plastic envelope, the other was in a box, surrounded by bubble wrap. Amazon =

amazon is not consistant on this. about 3 months ago, I got 3 orders in boxes, but everything since then has been non-padded brown mailers. I call them grocery bags as there is no protection at all.

This is not a new policy...just blind luck.

My Andor steenbok arrived in a bubble wrap mailer.

Luckily no dents.

My 3 steels were in a tiny box with rolled up paper underneath and the bottom. All mint. Andor is arriving separately. It’s come in one of those bubble mailers probably.

be nice if state which amazon
problem i find is most usa only refer to theirs and expect everyone to know, bearing in mind there are lots of amazons
uk italy japan and so on and so on
and you may get a nice package now doesnt mean next week they have run out of that packaging and whatever rubbish they push out the door next time.
hardly exciting times until they do regularly is it?
but we can but hope

I have never gotten a steelbook from Amazon wrapped in bubble wrap. This should be standard policy - packaged in bubble wrap inside boxes.

You'll only get that kind of packaging when ordering from some companies that only sell physical media.

When buying physical media from companies that sell thousands or millions of different products (Best Buy, Walmart, Amazon) you're going to get whatever standard packaging that particular warehouse employee grabs.

Do you really expect Amazon to have a checklist for their warehouse people to check that tells them what packaging to use for each individual product that they ship? Again, millions of different products.
