I'd love to see it on Blu too. However, Disney is slow to release their older catalogue movies. So far all we got is TRON, and Rocketeer later this year.

Disney always seems to give their live action films the shaft, unless they're ones with Hayley Mills or something. Even then there's no guarantee that they will put any effort into the home video release. It's sad, as much as I love the Animated classics, I love these live action films too. I ended up receiving Something Wicked This Way Comes for free with my DMR points.

The film wasn't well received when issued as its adapted from one of the very best books by Ray Bradbury and costs were pared in production by employing a cheaper cast (Bradbury would have liked Christopher Lee or Peter O'Toole as Mr. Dark) and test screenings meant the ending was altered. Bradbury quite liked the film but it could have been better. As a film, its stood the test of time well and will be thirty years old in a couple of years, an ideal time for a fully featured blu. There's also a good radio play if you can find it but the book is one I'd recommend to everyone

While Christopher lee and Peter O Toole would have been cool...i absolutly loved Jonathon Prices performance as Mr Dark. would love to see a really cool blu ray set that includes the soundtrack which is one of my fave movie soundtracks of all time

I can't believe this isn't out..oh wait it's Disney. I wish they would either release them or let someone else do it if they aren't going to do anything with their live action titles.

It's the 35th anniversary, it's the right time of year, and Disney can't even be bothered to offer an HD stream of this. Shameful.

I'd be happy if they put this and The Black Hole out as DMC Blu-ray exclusives at this point. Too bad junk like I'll Be Home for Christmas is getting priority for release over these.

I did just re-buy Something Wicked (and The Watcher in the Woods) on DVD, so I am sure a Blu-ray announcement is imminent. You can thank me when it happens

This is probably my most wanted title. The 2004 DVD, even for its day, is very soft and full of dirt and white specks throughout. Had my fingers crossed TCM might air a restored print during the October installment of Treasures From Disney Vault. Instead we got things like The Cat Fron Outer Space and Last Flight of Noah’s Arc. Both of those are at least readily available to purchase in the form of HD streaming.

I’m guessing the negative must require more restoration work than Disney is willing to do at the moment. Either that or someone at the studio just doesn’t like it? Either way, I don’t want another October to pass without this wonderful film on blu-ray.

I hope the Q&A goes well and we get some cool info. Are you filming the Q&A?

Is that Barry Mark Gordon? The question I would want asked is whether the preview cut still exists. It seems somebody's got it on a DVD at least (see post #11), but maybe a 35mm print lay deep within the Disney vaults somewhere. I want to keep hope alive that it could emerge as an extra on an eventual Blu-ray release.

Just wanted to bump this agin. I suppose I can't really complain as two of my favourites are finally getting a release this year ( Fearless Vampire Killers and From Beyond The Grave) but this is one of my most wanted films in HD.
The alternative cut would be great but I'll happily just settle for a good copy of the released version. There's just something about this terrific atmospheric wee film. I can see why it wasn't a big hit with mainstream audiences but for genre fans its sooooo good. The perfect Halloween time movie for autumn nights. Jonathan Price is outstanding in this and the scene between him and Jason Robards in the Library is just perfect!
Listening to James Horner's terrific score as I type this! Pleeeease someone put this out there!!!

I couldn't agree more, i absolutely love this movie. Fingers crossed(and everything else) for a Blu but i'm not holding my breath. Funnily enough i was recently listening to the unused score by Georges Delerue which is marvellous as well.

The original DVD release contains a commentary track from Ray Bradbury. He's quite candid about the problems involved in its production and for the less-than-perfect results.
