Default Munster, Go Home! from Scream Factory

Release Date: March 31, 2020
https://www.shoutfactory.com/product...roduct_id=7326

There was a German blu-ray released earlier this year:
https://www.blu-ray.com/movies/Munst...lu-ray/220974/
https://forum.blu-ray.com/showthread.php?t=311490

I never got around to ordering it so I'll be getting this. Hopefully it has an interview with Butch Patrick. I wonder if it will have both the widescreen and fullscreen versions like the German blu-ray:

Day one!

I too would like the series, but I'll take any Munsters in HD I can get.

I’m in for this one too.

I FINALLY cracked open my DVD set of the series and have been binge watching Season One for the last few days. One of the few television shows I loved as a child in the ‘70s that I hadn’t revisited since then. I know, why did I wait so long? I gotta say, this show holds up EXTREMELY well; still just as clever, funny and effortlessly entertaining as it was when I was a kid. Fred, Yvonne and Al are all perfection; what memorable, indelibly etched characters they gave us, and kudos to the writers for giving them so many delightfully absurd comic situations and so much hilarious-and-ridiculous-yet-somehow-utterly-convincing dialogue to work with. Such chemistry and harmony between all aspects of production; an American television classic. Extra special props, however, to Fred, whose incredibly expressive face, mastery of slapstick and excellent comic timing in general really add to the proceedings. He is the heart of the show, and his own heart really comes through in his performance.

And, considering these are old SD transfers, they look surprisingly decent when upscaled on my 4K Sony. Damn good for a DVD set, which of course I’d still upgrade in an instant if it hit Blu.

I have the German blu release, so unless there are some fantastic extras I will not double dip.
The problem I have with this movie, and The Munsters is my all time favorite TV show, is that the script borrowed ideas from the series and seemed less original and perhaps rushed.

Yep the exchange they have about Marilyn before leaving the Munster home early in the film is almost word for word the same exchange they have about her in the episode My Fair Munster. Another thing I find disappointing is the bulk of the film doesn’t take place at the Munsters home. The house is practically a character in itself.

I know the Munster's comedy was slapstick and silly at times, but when you see Herman & Grampa with such perfect comedy chemistry and timing, it's hysterical. But every funny man needs a straight man to play off of.

The makers of this film attempted to make the English Munster's just as bumbling and slapstick silly as the American Munsters and since they look completely normal and not MONSTROUS at all....it all comes across as childish and too silly for enjoyment. I always picture English people as prim and proper, but this was waaay too much for me.

I hated every scene with them and much prefer a Munster movie to stay in America at home, as another poster posted above....the house is a character in itself. This could have been MUCH better.

Wholeheartedly agree with this statement. I like this film... yet this is the whole reason why this Munster Go Home! release is NOT a day one buy for me. I'll wait until it's on sale in 6 - 12 months.

Almost 20 years ago, I opened my amazon account so that I could place my very first DVD order. The first DVD that I ever ordered online was the GOODTIMES DVD of MUNSTER, GO HOME!.

As you can guess, this is a day one.

This is a hilarious film that me and my dad enjoy watching around Halloween. I have it in Universal’s DVD boxset. Hopefully this will have new interviews with Butch Patrick, Debbie Watson, and/or Robert Pine. Maybe if this sells, we’ll get the TV show.

I remember watching this on KTLA back in the day which also aired the original TV series. I haven't seen it since. I hope SF has the rights to the series as well. That would definitely be a big seller. The Addams Family TV series needs to be released on Blu as well.

This has been available from Germany for a while. Quality is awesome. Lots of grain and lots of detail.
