In the near future, where America has become a police state, one hundred boys are selected to enter an annual contest where the winner will be awarded whatever he wants for the rest of his life. The game is simple - maintain a steady walking pace of four miles per hour without stopping. Three warnings, and you're out - permanently.

Hope there's a non-steelbook 4K option.

Saw this on Thursday night with the better half. We both loved it. Hell of a story. It's basically a bromance road trip gone terribly wrong, and I love it for that. Another great script from JT Mollner, the dude behind my favorite new film and 4K disc release of last year with Strange Darling. David Jonsson is so good in everything I've seen him in. He really knocks it out of the park here.

Absolutely pre-ordered. Glad it's getting the 4K treatment from Lionsgate. Very curious to see that alternate ending!

I don't go for steelbooks very often, but I'll get this one. And probably a regular 4K as well. Instant classic movie, as far as I'm concerned.

This was great! I saw it with my dad, who's a big Stephen King fan, and he loved it too.

Could be the ending from the book.

Possible, but unlikely; the entire movie seemed designed to get to where it got. We'll see, though!

The alternate ending
[Show spoiler]could easily have been the alternative with the two characters or the actual ending to the book.
I think either option would have worked with the movie and they picked the one they thought worked best.

Maybe the ending from King’s original novel? Anyway; this was a powerhouse film, but I don’t know if I EVER want to see it a second time.

Yeah I liked it a lot, but it's bleak af. Definitely won't be a frequent revisit, kinda like The Mist.

Not gonna lie, I'm already craving a re-watch. Yes, it's bleak, but I fell in love with the characters, however ill-fated they are.

I haven't read the book since I was a kid.
[Show spoiler]Was The Major killing Ray's dad - and Ray's subsequent desire for revenge - in the book, or was that invented for the film?

[Show spoiler]Invented for the film. Or, more correctly stated, heavily modified for the film. His Dad had been "squadded," which means forced servitude as a soldier, if I remember correctly. It worked well in the movie, I thought.

I want to see this film again too, no matter how downbeat and depressing. I loved the way the movie ended and I also loved the book's ending, which would be interesting if it was filmed as the alternate one included on the upcoming 4K.

[Show spoiler]Ray is the winner of the Walk. If I recall correctly, he starts hearing/seeing visions of the other walkers; I interpreted this as Ray finally snapping and going insane after his ordeal.

I heard an interview with the screenwriter, and it sounds like
[Show spoiler]they did a version of that, with a dark figure
but with things otherwise as they play out in the movie.

Saw this over the weekend and ordered the SB. This absolutely matched the absolutely grim dark tone of the novel while getting you attached to the characters. Impeccable casting all around.

Got really excited that this was a 4k release of 'Super Troopers' for a second...
