Quote:
In the year 2136, Wolff (Peter Strauss), a wily salvage pilot and intergalactic bounty hunter, answers a distress signal on Terra Eleven. Agreeing to pick up three women who've been shipwrecked, he lands on the planet only to discover they've been kidnapped. Following their trail, Wolff soon encounters Niki (Molly Ringwald), a spunky orphan who agrees to guide him across the Forbidden Zone, a vast wasteland populated by plague-infested mutants. After many battles, Wolff and Niki finally reach the lair of Overdog (Michael Ironside), the planet's half-man/half-machine ruler. Discovering the women are held captive in Overdog's slave pens, Wolff's rescue mission finally begins.

No 3D?

Eh, I'll probably buy it anyway. I remember this was a fairly fun flick.

3D would have gone a long way towards redeeming this silly slice of 80's cheese, maybe next time...

I'm a sucker for these kinds of movies so this is a definite blind buy. The majority of them are either too cheesy or foreign ripoffs of popular American films - not sure where Spacehunter falls into this category. I'm just glad it's not Italian

lol, glad to see I'm not the only one unimpressed by Italian sci-fi.

It's been a while, so I don't remember any blatant rip-offs to this movie. But it's definitely cheesy and cheap.

OAR or cropped like the DVD and 2-D screenings were (I'm not having the debate again where someone tries to claim this was always a 1.85 film)?

No 3D means, unfortunately, no thanks. That was a main part of this movie's charm.

And I'm curious on the aspect ratio, as well ...

EDIT: Of course, I love a good scenery-chewing Ironside ...

The 3-D in the original was never shown correctly. They went to tremendous effort to film the native 3-D, including vfx rarely attempted in 3D. Unfortunately the lab botched the prints.

A restoration from the original elements could've corrected this and allowed for the proper alignment and synchronization of L/R negatives.

Major missed opportunity. Disgusted. Pass.

Yes! Day one! Been hoping for this. Had never heard of it until I caught it on Starz one day back in 1995 but it became an obsession for mine for awhile. Even have an original press kit. A fun little B-movie with some cool vehicles. Too much to ever hope for a special edition with the footage shot by the original director before he was fired, which I believe had more of an anime-influence, but I'm just glad it's being released at all.

May have to get the soundtrack out now to give it a spin since I'm thinking of it. Cool score by Elmer Bernstein.

Never knew the lab botched the original prints - wow. I saw it in the theater, too, and remember the 3-D was headache inducing, and now I know why.

The movie does kind of suck as well, but I'll buy it anyway simply because I like the genre and Mill Creek titles are cheap.

Oddly enough, just got a new sealed Varese Sarabande limited club CD a couple of weeks ago. Grabbed a copy for less than 20.00. I love Elmer's 80's oitput. This along with Black Cauldron, Heavy Metal and Ghostbusers are all great.

I also have to say surprised no one tried to license it and release a corrected 3D version so sounds like at this point no one ever will.
