Default Scratched Disc Repair?

Anyone ever taken a BD to a Game to get scratches polished out?

I picked some up today and a couple are scratched. Nothing too serious, but bad enough for me to go "Urgh, I'm not putting those manky things in my OPPO"

I'm not 100% but I don't think scratch repair works with BDs, you'd be going through the protective coating. With DVDs and CDs you're skimming a layer off the disc itself to reduce the laser skipping.

It might be worth backing up the disc if you have the means and playing from a HDD through the OPPO.

Sometimes the ol' detergent/polish/Windolene trick works, sometimes not.

Is it something rare or expensive?

If not, it might be easier to cut your losses and buy another copy.

I bought The Godfather trilogy a while back. The third movie was pretty scratched up. Worse I have seen for a Blu-ray. My Oppo played it perfectly.

Are you afraid playing a scratched disc will somehow damage your Oppo?

I'm more concerned about my machine locking up. My Sony was a pain and I had to keep unplugging it all the time whenever a disc froze.

I found a copy of The House of the Devil in CEX yesterday. Priced up at a tenner but it scanned at a fiver Couple of marks on the disc though

It will probably play fine, I just don't like discs with marks on them.
