I haven't been able to find any specs, but this is pretty exciting for those of us in the US who've been waiting for a good release of this film. I just happened to spot it when I looked for any available Blu-ray last night.

There has been an excellent release available from Germany for the last eleven years.

Eh well. That's a pretty dated transfer by now, so here's hoping 101 Films will give us a better one.

Normally 101 get a transfer of something already released, so I wouldn't expect a new one.

Complete with English subs and a whole ton of bonus features. This 101 Films release is gonna have to boast a real cherry of an updated transfer to be worthy of repurchasing.

Well, damn. Here's hoping this one is even better. If not, I'll have to ask my buddy in The Netherlands to grab a copy of the German release somewhere.

I finally got around to watching that German blu a couple of months ago and the transfer holds up very well indeed.

The question is, Why hasn't this film gotten any love in the US market on Hi-Def formats? It's freakin' insane that a Western film doesn't get a proper release in the States. It'd be like a particular Godzilla film not being available in Japan.

Ongoing lawsuits over the profits. Costner rather less than credibly claims the film made a billion with TV and video, which doesn't exactly sound credible for a film that grossed $68m worldwide (85.4% of that in America), and he didn't get his share.

mate of mine on twitter confirmed that it only had PCM 2.0 audio
