This sounds spectacular. Do we have any idea what the 17 films are? I've been trying to work it out. I'm guess chronologically the last one will be Fitzcarraldo (1982), the first maybe Signs of Life (1968), unless they're starting with The Unprecedented Defence of the Fortress Deutschkreuz (1967)? But he made more than 17 films in between (including TV stuff), and I don't know what BFI has the rights to.

If this does well, I wonder if a second box set is possible, again depending on what the BFI has rights to.

OH MY GOD FINALLY I AM SO ECSTATIC! Not only have MoC just announced Harold and Maude but the BFI finall announced this bad boy! CAN'T WAIT!

EDIT: also Eyes Without A Face? Great shout BFI! Weird that they're re-releasing the Seven Samurai steelbook (probably leftover from Zavvi, right?) - also slightly annoying they're releasing separate steelbooks of Aguirre and Nosferatu as well as the collection set...I will be wanting all three! Gonna have to start saving up for that Herzog boxset. So happy!!!!

Great news

Also, VERY excited for the Aguirre, Wrath of God Steelbook - one of my favourite movies.

Concerning Nosferatu - what differences to the Eureka Moc can we expect?

Yeah this is great news, though not for my bank balance!

I see Even Dwarfs Started Small and Heart of Glass are "missing" from that list of contents so one of my Anchor Bay Herzog box sets wont be redundant for a while yet!

Just noticed that...dammit. Hopefully they get a separate release - if not from the BFI then from Anchor Bay cashing in on the Herzog hysteria. I'm so happy about this but yes, as you said - will be bad news for our bank balances! I have been holding off getting the DVD sets though, especially after hearing about the BFI restorations of his films (I think they mentioned it end of 2012). Aguirre I am particularly enthused about - hence why I might be impatient and pick up the steelbook in May! The boxset will definitely be priority though!

Nosferatu is the 1979 version starring Klaus Kinski, not the Murnau version released by MOC.

My only very very slight moan is that Cobra Verde won't be included in the set. Whilst not top drawer Herzog and late 80's, still decent. But you can't have it all!

Actually, it will be included in the set. They've updated the page. Check again the OP.

Great that they've added Heart of Glass, but I wonder why Even Dwarfs Started Small isn't included? I would have thought they'd have the rights for that going off what has been released in the past. Still, I can't complain, this sounds fantastic. I hope it will have both versions of Nosferatu.

Doh - my bad... - was confused with the USA (Shout release)... it's been a long day

Guess we'll have to wait to compare Shout vs Bfi?

The listing for the Nosferatu steelbook at Amazon confirms it will contain both English and German versions:
