Panic clickbait article.

"The premium brands will get out, then smaller lesser-known brands will move into the shrinking Blu-ray market just as they did for CD players."
In fact it is the opposite. Mass market CD players are out, and it's high-end boutique brands like Cambridge, Denon and Marantz who are still in the market for CD players. The writer of this piece is a ****wad theorist who hasn't bothered to do any research.

^ Ok. I am not into CDs, so not aware of the current state of the CD Player market. But do you agree with the overall drift of the article, in the sense that production of Blu-ray players will stop in the next few years? Panasonic and Sony are now the only two mainstream brands producing BD players. May be the boutique brands like Magnetar and Reavon might continue production even after Panasonic and Sony stop.

^I feel that is what will happen. Instead of 100$ players we may need to get 1500$ players. The video player market will be like the record player market today.

Man, that article is complete bullcrap. There are plenty of cheap Blu-ray players out there that aren't brand name but still do what they're meant to do: play Blu-rays.

Plus, I see Philips, Panasonic, & Sony Blu-ray/4KUHD players being sold. And ONN is still selling portable Blu-ray players. Not to mention external Blu-ray & 4K disk drives are still being made. I'm expection Pioneer to take LG's place soon...I hope. So I'm not worried.
