If they use theatrical posters for all six of these I'll just get them individually.

Looks like both cuts via seamless branching, just like TWOK.

So then it has to be 2:35 right to keep the Theatrical as the Theatrical?

I think that's a safe assumption. I don't believe they're going to package two UHDs just to support a different aspect ratio for another cut of the same film.

I'd prefer both in 2.35 but if they're in 2:1 then that's fine.

Oh, and R.I.P. Christopher Plummer. In my opinion his portrayal of Chang is one of the best villain roles in cinema history.

I still like Ricardo Montalban as Khan however Plummer is not far behind. They both give similar performances. They underplay their roles and then they let loose the farther along the movies go.

I'm not going to be too annoyed if it's 2:1. Just to get this finally getting the treatment it deserves is enough! And yes, the art is awesome.

I still need full details of all the variation of sets we know they are releasing before deciding. Knowing Paramount there will be exclusive discs somewhere to tempt double dipping.

Yeah, no need to decide yet. The UHD adventure is just beginning...

I'd rather have slipcovers if we're talking theatrical posters because there's less chance of damage.

2:35:1 please (yes, I am biased for it owning a scope screen).

Well, the beauty of the common top between both means if it was 2:1 you could simply zoom in to chop off the dead space at the bottom.

That'd screw up HeavyHitter lopping the bottom off.

If they did move them, we'd probably end up with player-generated subs. Obviously the sensible thing would be to have it 2.35, full stop, but we'll see how Meyer wants to play it this time...

Any idea which version of the Director's Cut we'll be getting? The original extended version we got on VHS, LD, and DVD, or the enhanced version we got on Blu Ray? The only difference I can remember off the top of my head is that on the Blu Ray version we saw each of the conspirators faces during the mind meld interrogation, but I seem to remember there being other ones too.

Why is it never straightforward with versions...

Actually neither of the extended versions has been on Blu-ray. The revised extended edition came out in 2004 on 2- disc DVD.

The other changes were the reordering of shots in the scene where Scotty is looking at the blueprints to correct an editing error. And the insertion of close ups -- one each of McCoy and Kirk during the interrogation scene. And then of course the addition of the conspirators faces. And Geoff's personal request of a bong sound!
