I always go into watching a show/movie with low expectations and this was no exception.

I enjoyed the movie for what it is. Is it the best Trek movie made? No but it’s not the worst Trek movie made (Final Frontier, Insurrection and Nemesis take that crown).

So while not my favourite of modern Trek i would certainly watch it again and even get the 4K release for my Trek collection.

I do hope it does well enough that we will get more streaming movies especially since the main movies are currently stuck in limbo.

I don't think this will be 4K, it will probably be standard Blu-ray.

4K/blu-ray combo like what Paramount is starting to do with movies.

Even "bad" Star Trek I enjoy. So I'll be getting this. I'm just trying to decide if I'm going to get the steelbook or the standard version .I'd like to see the art first for both the standard release and steelbook since it's really been a case by case basis for Star Trek and steelbooks for me..

I got the steelbooks for all three seasons of Picard and the first seasons of Strange New Worlds & Lower Decks(which only got a steelbook for season 1 and the upcoming complete series set). But i went for the standard versions for all five seasons of Discovery and and season 2 of Strange New Worlds.I just liked the standard version art more then the steelbooks.

I honestly thought I had lowered my expectations enough for this film (sitting at 18% on Rotten Tomatoes) and yet...

It exceeded all my expectations in the wrong direction

The worse thing (not just movie) that Star Trek has ever done

I hate to burst your bubble, but it is objectively the worst "trek" movie ever made, even if you include the jar jar abrams "films:"

Final Frontier: 5.5 IMDB and 23/25 on RT
Insurrection: 6.4 IMDB and 55/44 on RT
Nemesis: 6.4 IMDB and 38/49 on RT

The jar jar trilogy:
first 7.9 IMDB 94/91 RT
second 7.7 IMDB 84/89 RT
third 7.0 IMDB 86/80 RT
(no accounting for taste)

and...this?

3.9 IMDB and 21/17 RT
Even the critics, who have defended everything since std came out have left the reservation on this one.

The Star Wars Holiday Special has better ratings than this on RT: 25/25
https://www.rottentomatoes.com/m/sta...oliday_special

Tommy Wiseau's "The Room" has better rating's than this on RT: 24/47
https://www.rottentomatoes.com/m/the_room

I'm glad you enjoyed it, and I will always support everyone getting their steel...but it is objectively the worst Star Trek film even made.

I'm a big Trek competionist on physical media, and even I'm hesitating here. I got a half hour in and was not really interested in finishing. Maybe when it's on clearance.

You lost all credibility with “Jar Jar Abrams”

And I think it’s the worst of the Trek movies.

Grow up.

Horrible movie and horrible art, assuming that is the final art, f*cking trash
At least create some beautiful artwork to make people interested in buying the steelbook

I could have called him the "mystery box hack" and it wouldn't change the facts of the matter. Nothing was factually incorrect the information I presented about the films and their ratings in what I presented, I only made a snarky comment about him.

Perhaps you need to grow up if making a joke about a guy you never met, doesn't know you exist, and never will somehow rustles your jimmies that much.

It’s just poster art. It could be the cover eventually or not. I’d say probably not.

Thanks!

I've watched some of his videos, but I started calling him that back in 2009 after the first film. Someone I was chatting with online back then made a joke that ended with "meesa jar jar abrams with my star wars inserts!" and we had a good laugh about it and it just stuck.
