From Mel Brooks, the legendary director of The Producers, Blazing Saddles, Young Frankenstein, Silent Movie and Life Stinks, comes this intergalactic spoof starring Brooks, John Candy (Once Upon a Crime), Rick Moranis (Little Shop of Horrors), Bill Pullman (Lost Highway), Daphne Zuniga (Modern Girls), Dick Van Patten (High Anxiety), George Wyner (Fletch), Michael Winslow (Police Academy) and comedy great Joan Rivers. The farce is with you in this uproarious salute to science fiction! When the evil Dark Helmet (Moranis) attempts to steal all the air from planet Druidia, a determined Druish princess (Zuniga), a clueless rogue (Pullman) and a half-man/half-dog creature who’s his own best friend (Candy) set out to stop him. But with the forces of darkness closing in on them at ludicrous speed, they’ll need the help of a wise imp named Yogurt (Brooks) and the mystical power of “The Schwartz” to bring peace and merchandising rights to the entire galaxy! Spaceballs? It's not there's anything wrong with it, but Kino Lorber could've picked another movie to release in 4K.

No there's been some good movies that was released in 4K, it just depends on what you choose, so be thankful because 4K UHD could've been another dead format like: DVD-Audio and SACD! The main thing is that the studios are continuing to support and release their movies on the 4K UHD format vs to none.

You're 1st post made me wonder too. Im not a fan of vague statements. You said "they could have picked another movie." Please elaborate. What title would you like to see from them?
Now you say "be thankful". So why aren't you?
I'm happy to see the release. I'll even buy it. 4k lives matter.

This is how these threads go. Everybody gets excited over a new announcement. GIFs and quotes from the film fly around freely. Then word gets out that the release is flawed in some way, and everybody complains to the high heavens about it until release day. Then you get your smattering of "does the disc not play for anybody else?" cluelessness, and the buzz suddenly dies off as everybody moves over into the thread of whatever disc has just been announced at that time. Rinse, repeat.

For me, personally, this is probably a Day None purchase, because in spite of enjoying the film, I don't need to double dip on it, and I already have in on a sufficient Blu-ray.

But, yeah, finally another chestburster scene in 4K. Just not the one most people want.

Let's also not forget

• The 4K sucks because its darker
• This isn't "real" 4K because...
• People making judgements on the entire disc based on 2 badly prepared comparison screenshots
• Saying the release is wrong because they saw it in the theater 30 years ago and it doesn't look like that
• My pre-order hasn't shipped yet
• Delivery service x sucks
• I didn't get a slipcover
• This movie is amazing/sucks
• To really appreciate this disc you need x equipment
• Where does the code redeem
• Is there/why isn't there a remastered bluray
• The artwork would be much better if they used this instead
• Why is/isnt their grain
