Don't forget Le beau Serge and Les cousins for September 14th.
The Scola are for October 19th. You have the specs here : http://www.dvdclassik.com/news/news_bluray.php All 5 should have English subs. I don't know yet about the Region code yet, however. |

Nice topic.
Would be wonderful if Jérôme Soulet or someone from Gaumont Vidéo could show up here from time to time. For reference: DVDClassik interview with Gaumont Vidéo. |

Nice one pro-b! I only own 'Un condamné à mort s'est échappé' so far but I'm hoping to pick up more of the releases with English subtitles. I'm not sure about the other releases with English subtitles, but I was a little disappointed that the special features on 'Un condamné à mort s'est échappé' didn't have English subtitles too.
I hope Gaumont continue to make their releases English friendly though. It's just a shame more aren't English friendly as I would have bought films like 'Le Silence De La Mer' day one. Have Gaumont made an announcement of what will be released after the Scola films yet? |

the best French label hands down for blu-ray.
I have around 5 of their bds I think, and they are all just fantastic. the only wish would be that English subs would be present on all titles, but I guess it is not contractually possible. I just don't see the more obscure releases ever getting a NA release, so that basically means they will stay unavailable to non French speaking individuals, and that's a real shame. I know I would love to check out these more obscure French classics, but obviously the lack of English subs pretty much ends the conversation. Still, Gaumont does a great job, and can't wait to see what they've got planned for next year. |

Really sorry the Fantomas set is not English-friendly. It was the same with the DVD set. I'm fond of those films and would love to see them, but would need subtitles or an English dub (I saw the films in the US and all were dubbed).

Watched 'Cousin Cousine' last night, what a great film! Going to order some of the English friendly releases next week. Has anyone ordered direct from the Gaumont shop?
Btw, there's a little catalogue with 'Cousin Cousine' and it indicates that 'Don Giovanni' is a Gaumont Classic release so needs to be added to the list. Also, are those definitely the only 7 English friendly releases? Just want to make sure I know which titles are available before I order. |

Hi RDA,
Yes, those are the English-friendly ones from the Classics series. The Chabrol discs are also English-friendly, but we do not have reviews because we covered the Criterion releases. If there is any interest, perhaps we could do reviews later on, but people/members will have to let me know. We will have reviews for the three Scola films, which have been announced as English-friendly. Also, I will make sure to update the thread with the rest of the Gaumont titles (outside of the Classics line) this week ![]() Edit: Forgot to add, Don Giovanni and Carmen are also English-friendly, but they are actually music titles, which is why I did not have them on the list. I will add them up as well. Pro-B Last edited by pro-bassoonist; 10-10-2011 at 05:14 AM. |

Cool! This is the only one of the three new Scola film releases I haven't seen, and I'm very tempted to order the blu-ray now!
Not sure if it's Gaumont or not, but I would love to see Scola's 'A Special Day' on blu-ray too. Pro-b, do you know if any of the announced 2012 titles will have English subtitles? |
