toshiba has not joined the BDA, don't expect it for a while.

Microsoft has given up on HD DVD, however they havn't really stated it officialy, but don't expect them to/

Microsoft given up what? Hd DVD? it's dead... they don't even have to make the decision. They've always been thinking downloads... Their role was to prolong the war as long as possible, no matter what the marketing people say.

As for Toshiba. They are not part of the BDA. Their current stance is that they will not produce blu-ray players...this will soften over time, but they are still smarting from the defeat.

Default M$ and Tosh

Tosh is turning their attention elsewehere. Others on this thread are correct, M$ was simply fueling the war they were not looking for either side to win. I believe they hoped the public would ditch both sides and embrace the alleged ease and convenience of download (a market they would like to think they have cornered).

Don't expect any big "M$ is BLU" announcements. What's more - we don't need them.

Microsoft's heart was never in this one. And Toshiba hasn't announced any plans to go Blu.

No big loss either way for Blu-Ray.

Microsoft and Toshiba aren't really vital for BDA.

Microsoft only wanted to prolong the war and create confusion, and wanted to hurt Sony. Toshiba is an electronics's company.

Neither are vital in anything since they don't provide content, both kinda sucked at marketing and really have nothing to offer the BDA.
