Kino have just announced plans to tentatively release Babe (1995) on 4K UHD!

Okay, I guess I'll admit I'm a rampant hypocrite, because first thought was being happy that Babe was coming out in 4K because it is a lovely movie and definitely could use an upgrade, because the Blu-ray is an ancient typical DVD in HD type crap of Universal..

...but it's a Kino, so there'll be people bashing it (reasonably) and worries about an encode, but either way we're getting a fresh gorgoeus master. I'm happy anyway. I am hoping the sequel comes out as well eventually. I really really do wish this would have been a Universal release. At least it'll have Dolby Vision this way.

That one (if you mean the 2006 live action) has a 4K master that's already available digitally.

The 1973 one (animation) has a nice (but old) HD print on digital, too. Would love to see a fresh 4K remaster of that eventually even if on Blu-ray.

I'm in the minority that prefers the sequel. Cool seeing that Universal are licensing this out though. I was thinking that was more likely to be put out by Universal themselves.

Tentatively in that Kino announce titles so early before contracts or negotiations are finalized and then lose it or promise Dolby Vision on titles and has fallen through a few times. It's super rare but not out of the realm of possibilities either.
