Oooh, this should be a stunning experience in theaters, especially as it was meant to be a roadshow experience anyway with overture and intermission. It'll be cool to experience it like that. I hope it's a Dolby Cinema release like The Abyss was. Besides the benefits of a larger screen with Dolby Vision and Atmos, my rear will be thankful to be spending 3 hours in a recliner instead of a standard seat!

Eh, it's only going to be at The Egyptian Theater. Pain in the ass to try and navigate through Hollywood. I'll wait for the 4K disc.

The 4K of the directors cut is an easy day1 purchase. Whether it made enough money or gets the praise it should, it remains arguably Ridley’s best film in my book. Also a great performance from Orlando Bloom.

Now you see, I adore the Directors Cut, but still feel Mr Bloom was the weakest part of it. Not terrible, but maybe that says more about the supporting cast than his performance

That's only the advanced screening for Beyond Fest on May 2nd. The May 14th release will be nationwide.

I hope so. I'd definitely make the trip if it came to my local AMC.

You'd think it would be the directors cut for the nationwide one night engagement also. This 4K release all but pretends the theatrical no longer exists

Yeah. KoH DC is damn near perfect. Orlando Bloom, while a good actor... is so out of place in this film versus the rest of cast. He's the weakest one and there's a big gap between him and everyone else. He's not bad at all... he just sucks compared to everyone else cuz they're so goddamn amazing.

I get why they chose him in that time but... who would have been the more logical choice for that time? I can't remember who else was the good white guy actor of his age group?

^ The problem with Orlando Bloom's Balian, is that he doesn't really find his own character arc after he arrives in Jerusalem and buries his dead wife's necklace on Golgotha. Which concludes the first act of the film; still two to go.

He is kind of pushed by the agency of all the other characters from here on - Godfrey, King Baldwin, Saladin, Tiberias, Sibylla, Guy...

Definitely getting the 4K of the DC. An online dealer here lists it as a June release.

Orlando Bloom is the worst part of every movie. If it's a 10/10, his presence alone downgrades it to a 9/10.

I disagree but that’s OK.

I can see your point about his character arc but it all works for me. I felt he fit well in this film and I bought into his character.

Preordered the 4K steelbook. It is the easiest no-brainer pre-order almost ever.

I disagree, especially with regards to this movie. He was solid in this.

Fingers crossed this plays in my area somehow. Easily my favorite Scott picture and an all timer in my eyes.

Bloom just doesn't become the owner of his character like everyone else does. He does nothing special that makes him a NEED for the film. He's just not a really good actor compared to damn near all the others. His work in the film is such that many other actors could have done the same thing w/o issue.

He's good as a supporting background actor, but he cannot carry a film.
KOH proved that

I think you're probably right on that. Not enough depth to sustain a starring role but w/ enough intrigue to work as a supporting character character.

He seems very charming and fascinating as a presence but it's not strong enough for his character here. But he's rocked those supporting roles for sure. Great voice and a look that gets interest but he's not someone you want to guarantee on making money on.

voted "not recommended"

why not 35mm celluloid screening of the "director's cut" with original DTS sound

which should've been the only version released.
