Hopefully they will retain the OAR and 2.0 Japanese audio, I pray this will be a good transfer.

I'm not counting on an actual completely uncut version but it would be nice if they somehow got a hold of some of the lost footage and present it as extras. Like the stuff seen in the Japanese trailers that was on the most recent US DVD.

Damn, I'm so hyped for this! Still can't believe it lol.

I see the True Savior series has been released on Blu in Germany. Unfortunately no English subtitles.

All Discotek/Eastern Star bluray releases are Region A locked. Except for the lone region free title Robot Carnival.

Love the series, probably my favorite 80's anime to be honest. Somehow I've never seen this movie. I've heard it was kind of a retelling of the first story arc(s?) of the series, is that right? I have the 3-disc SD-on-BD set, is having this movie something I need to have in my collection and give a watch to?

How did you manage not to have seen it all this time?! It's an absolute must for all fans! It's a retelling but with certain things/characters left out. The animation is much better than the series and even though the movie is basically censored and cut, the on screen violence is out of this world. Check out the trailers on Youtube if you like.

Btw I just pre-ordered mine!

Yes! This was one of my first ever VHS purchases in the 90's from Manga Video here in the UK. Will definitely be adding this to my collection. Golden era anime at its finest.

If you want to feel numb for hours afterwards, due to the epic levels of grimness, it's thoroughly recommended.

So I take it this is yet another example of us standing on opposite sites when it comes to movies?

Good to see this finally getting a Blu-ray release. I still have my videocassette of the movie.

Grim? Not a word I would use to describe this movie; awesome would be a more appropriate word in my opinion

I have caught the first 45 episodes of the TV series. My understanding is the movie is a re-telling, re-animated movie of the first story arc which covers the first 20 episodes or so. Is that correct?

I remember saying in the TV show thread of how there probably wouldn't be a Blu release of the film because of the low quality footage, glad I was wrong! Contains one of my favorite dub lines.

I'm not entirely sure but I think the movie roughly covers those episodes yes.
