Remakes - Who would you cast?

Okay I know how some of you if not most or all, don't necessarily like remakes. But let's just have a conversation here. IF they were to remake a movie you liked, who could they honestly cast?

For instance, let's start with the movie that spawned this post in the first place. Farris Beuller's day off.

Who COULD they get to star?

and you don't have to keep with this movie, you could come up with a movie of your own.

Remaking Ferris Buehler would be a tough one. The movie is such a classic that I don't see any of today's young actors being able to play the role of Ferris Buehler like Broderick did.

I listed Renault last because he's kind of what fascinates me about the whole idea in the first place. I don't know when this first occurred to me but years ago I started wondering about taking a darker look at the Renault character. Casablanca portrays him as a basically likeable, charming rake who, oh by the way takes bribes, kills or at least acquieses in the killing of a prisoner and extorts sex from vulnerable young women. I got the image of an unkempt, unshaven Jean Reno playing Renault pretty much as a pig (who may or may not have some decency buried in there somewhere).

Anyway, just thinking out loud.
