Fox needs to drop the price of Independence Day to $19.99.

Hopefully soon.

I just asked Wicky about this. Fox lowered is MSRP, yet I robot and ID 4 are still selling for $27.95 in Amazon. What gives?

I dunno but I'm not paying 28 bucks for either of those titles. 20 isn't a problem though.

Hurry up Fox.

I went to my loco Bj's and notice that all their BD prices are lower than couple months ago. Once the price is the same as DVD it will speed the adoption even faster. I can't wait till that day

I don't know where you asked me, but it was a spring reprice of existing product, not a complete price point shift

ye what he said, I would think they would come down to 19.99 after a few weeks. That price is too high, especially for anyone who buys those and can't hear the MA sound

A few weeks? A minimum of 6 months, and probably in the fall for the Christmas push

Thanks. I had asked the question in a related thread. Anyways, I am buying ID 4 and I Robot now. I really want to see those movies in 1080P.

I couldn't wait on I, Robot either. I decided to replace the DVD as soon as I heard about this.

I'm focusing on mainly new day & date titles right now... and not even getting all of them I want due to working on paying off bills right now... but I will make exceptions for some catalog titles.

If I could have gotten "I, Robot" or ID4 for $19.95, I might have bitten... but I think I will now wait until a BOGO or a $14.95 sale before I pick them up. "Man On Fire" looks tempting at $19.95... but I think I will wait until I can pick it up at $14.95 or during a BOGO.

Though this is only for their older releases right now, I believe I remember Fox lowering their new release catalog titles on DVD first... I would say maybe this is a test to see how well this price point works for them retail-wide instead of just assorted BOGOs.

I think it's more a realization that the price point doesn't attract any but the most dedicated of users, and now that the cost of the discs is paid off, or mostly paid off they can afford to lower the price

probably the best way to summarize fox's strategy is that they know that there's not huge volume yet, and they don't want to lose money, while say Warner has always thought a bit more long term

I would definately pick up I, Robot for 20, but I'm not paying 28. I'm waiting for the price to come down.
