Default Ultraviolet PG-13 where is the Unrated Version?

I just received my 5 Free Blus from the Winter Promo (Purchased at Christmas, rebate send 1 week before the mailin deadline in February and received in around 5 weeks).

Being a huge Milla fan I was looking forward to this pick. Why did they limit this release to the PG-13 Theatrical Release, I would have rather had the Unrated version.

Why would anyone want more of this movie? really though, it was a bad film. Even the graphics, which were the only good part about it, were not consistent and were at times awful!
Don't agree with me? Well these people do:
http://www.rottentomatoes.com/m/10004504-ultraviolet/

Still, nothing against the actress, but I would not want to see an "unrated" version, the PG-13 was bad enough.

I had to stop watching this movie 15 minutes in. It sucked WAY too bad.

The point is that its the PG-13 Theatrical version of the movie and there is an Unrated version on standard dud not that you liked or disliked the movie.
Why not either include both versions together or release the better version on blu?! This is another example of studios not releasing better versions of existing cuts when they finally go Blu (Narnia comes to mind as another I wont buy on Blu because its only the Theatrical release).

Some will argue I was cheated simply for selecting that as one of my 5 free ones while I feel cheated at not getting the content I was hoping.

Better versions? That all depends on who you are and what you believe. Are the extended versions of Con Air, Coyote Ugly, Enemy of the State, Narnia, Mr. & Mrs. Smith better? I don't think so. I think they added things that should've been taken out... errr... well they were taken, then added back in to get people to buy more discs.

As for Ultraviolet, even though I don't ever want to see/touch this film, I think the reason they didn't have the unrated cut is because the format was just starting out when this disc was released. They did the same thing with Basic Instinct 2. It probably had something to do with disc space, as I don't think they had dual layered discs working at the point of release.

I recall reading that early in Blus life they had a lot of trouble getting seamless branching to work. Part of that I guess would be that I think seamless branching requires 2 layers and the early releases only used a single layer.

As for why they decided to put out the theatrical version vs the unrated version. My guess is that it makes more sense to double dip and offer an unrated version later than to double dip and offer a theatrical version later.

PS - Ultraviolet is on my 5 free movie list too

I am guilty of liking this movie. It is a high concept sci-fi with high action and low story. Good senseless film for my tastes. It is made by the same team that made Equilibrium, and I liked that film.

It's because the movie sat on a shelf for over a year before they decided to toss as little money as possible to get it on screen. The same thing happened with A Sound of Thunder, except that sat like 2 years

Im also guilty to liking this movie I guess I really like the main character
but all that is off topic, since this was a discussion of not releasing
a unrated version of the movie.

I hope the ops wish of a unrated falls to him / her whenever it comes
to be.

The Japanese disc is the Unrated version. No automatic subs for the,(what little there is), non-English speaking parts.

The only film I enjoyed the added content added back in was Payback.

But I would have to agree with the OP'ers, this movie was terrible . But I had to buy it to support Blu...and that my wife for some reason loves this movie...

Just when you thought Aeon Flux couldn't have been any more rubbish, along comes Ultraviolet to prove you wrong.

I bought this used on Blu Ray because it was only $6 or so.

Then,... I sold it back for about $4.

Couldn't stand owning it... it's amazingly bad. And,.. I have a secret crush on Milla but even that couldn't help in this case.

It was one of my 5 free movies.

It's crazily over-stylized and completely retarded, but looks and sounds good. They should have made it R rated and had a lot more gore and nudity though.

Unfortunately the "unrated" version doesn't really do that.

Here's a game. Starting with Resident Evil, see how yellow Milla's two front teeth become from movie to movie. Not even Ultraviolet's digital manipulation could hide them. Smoke much, Milla?

Why start with RE though?

Isn't 5th Element before that?

What about Return to the Blue Lagoon... Her teeth look really good on that one. (Just watched it recently...yeah,.. I can admit it.)

-Brian

p.s. Now you've done it... I looked up the IMDB page to see more about her career and realized I haven't seen Kuffs..

For Milla.... I want to rent it but... I fear this could be one of the worst movies EVAR (actually sadly any movie she is in always carries that risk.)

^^^^^^ Because Resi Evil seems to be the stepping stone for Milla's Smokers Mouth. Oh and Kuffs is... Ok. Dated and cheesy, but...Ok.
