Default Splitting up sucks

So, some of you may have heard that I have a wife in some of my previous posts. It isn't exactly true, as she was technically just my fiancee, but we were set to be married in a couple of months, and we lived together in our own place and were saving to buy a house. But things went south very, very fast. It was more or less for reasons out of both of our control, not the typical reasons you hear for splitting up. I haven't lived at home since I was 18 years old, and it looks like that's where I'm headed. I'm only 21, but I work 2 full-time jobs while going to school full-time to pay the bills, so it's not exactly like I'm your average college student. Sorry for the rant, just going a little crazy over here

At least I get to keep the Blu-rays

Look on the bright side, you don't have to worry about her hogging the HDTV like one of the other posters here was complaining about! On a lighter note, sorry to hear it man, I ended up getting divorced early last year, and it sucked, but we are great friends now. Don't be bitter, and try to salvage some sort of friendship out of it!

Yeah, man I can feel your pain. Tough break, I would be devistated if my fiance split it off 79 days away from our wedding. You must be heartbroken over that.

Just offering a bit of friendly advice, next time do some premarital work. Too many people spend too much time preparing for the wedding and not the marriage. To many marriages fail that way and the effect is devistating.

that sucks, dude.

just remember, everything happens for a reason, and that things will inevitably get better.

thought it was the end of the world when my gf of 5 years broke up with me, but it's now 10 years later and i'm very happily married to the woman of my dreams.

Sorry to you BUT
21 yrs old is a little young to be determining who you want to spend the rest of your life with...maybe it was best.

In the future, before you get engaged, bring up the term "pre-nuptual agreement" and see how she reacts - that will be the true test to see if someone wants what you have or is just happy to be with you

I hear all too often the guy getting raked over the coals in a divorce and having to pay alimony for 5-10-15 yrs, even if she gets remarried. Like Chris Rock said, "If you have a million dollars and she gets half, you still have a good amount of money BUT if you make $30k a year and she gets half, then your ass is broke! I don't think what OJ did was right, but I UNDERSTAND!"

Keeping yourself stable if your marriage breaks up is key, you didn't work hard for someone who was along for the ride to take it all from you. Keep what is yours and she keeps what is hers. If you buy something together, then specify what percentage each should get (base it on salary earned at the time of purchase for example).

I agree, 21 is too young to get married.

You shouldn't even consider marriage until you're at least 25, finished with your education, and in a job that pays more than minimum wage.

wow, just 2 hours ago? (yesterday), you dont seem too busted up about it she must have not meant that much to you?

well sorry to hear your losses for you all, hopefully it will work out later in life. yes 21 is early, my wife and I got married when we were 28 and meet when we were 24. it was worth the wait as we have a fantastic marriage and i could not ask for a better wife and mother of my children. so yes waiting is worth it guys

Any rational 21 year old should be ecstatic that he's no longer hooked to a single woman.

Don't get serious with a chick again until you have received your degree(s) and have your own home and own career well established.

Then and only then should you begin thinking about getting serious about a relationship with a girl.

Most marriage counselors would disagree with that. Nothing says "I don't trust anybody and I care more about my possessions than I do about you" than the word "pre-nup". Now, if you have a net worth of over, say, $2,000,000, that's a bit of a different story.

That said, I feel for the blokes in this thread who are down right now. But life goes on. The world still turns. In other words: All the things that are destined to be permanent will remain that way.

PS... to those saying 21 is too young to get married, I say it's all relative. I got married at 21 and have a very stable, solid marriage. It CAN be done... but I won't deny it is without its challenges. It takes a lot of faith, a little practice, and you gotta be a great giver, and an even better FORgiver.

Whoa! Consider yourself very lucky! You are only 21, dude! Far too early to get married. I'm sure your ex was your best friend, etc., but people change too much during their twenties to settle into a marriage. Graduate college, establish your career, take your part of the money you saved for a house and get a place of your own. Date like a madman! At least until very late 20's or 30.

The great thing about women as they get older. They lose their hangups. When I was 27/28 I promised myself that I would never date a woman younger than 25. Instead I dated much older than myself. If anything those experiences helped me realize that I wanted more from a gf/wife.

When I met my wife, I was sure I met my best friend and true partner in life.

Go smoke a cigar and find a hottie!
