For those flicks, it might as well be useless especially since some of those folks only have the player in their laptop and they don't have a stand alone.

Dirt cheap is as next to useless as you can get since they're on clearance sale and once you move on from that laptop you've effectively wasted the money on media that you could have used elsewhere.

Quit with the ignorance.

Lol ignorance? Ignorance would be you...you're ignoring the fact that there are some HD DVD movies that are not on Bluray.

You're ignoring the fact that the HD DVD player will also play DVD's an upscale them (and no I'm not saying they'll look as good as Bluray but they'll definitely look a lot better than normal SD).

You're ignoring the fact that the Bluray library isn't that huge compared to DVD or even HD DVD since both High Def formats have only been out for a few years.

Quite simply you're lying and saying an outright falsehood when you say that the HD DVD player in that laptop is "useless". It can be used. It can be used to play movies.

Thats the only thing that matters.

But if you feel better about yourself and bluray by insulting others who find a lil value in the now dead format then go right ahead.

Ever hear of a little thing called 'patience'? It's a strange concept that those who have bought into HD-DVD seem to forget about from time to time.

Most {if not all} movies will end up on Blu-Ray eventually, you just have to be patient.

Why buy a laptop to get upscaling ability when Blu-Ray players do the same for a fraction of the price? And it'll have new media put out for it from June onward. HD-DVD won't. If you don't understand that you're either a} an idiot or b} someone who supported HD-DVD.

And you're ignoring, {or are intentionally ignorant to} the fact that the HD-DVD library is practically stagnant {they have what? 6 movies due out before the door is shut entirely?} and won't be increasing after June. Why would anyone in their right mind want a laptop that only played 200 movies in native high def? Unless they were stupid.

I haven't lied once, but then again, someone could insinuate that being told that a useless piece of hardware is perfectly valid for the average consumer considering that they would have to pay a couple hundred bucks more for it compared to a laptop with just a regular DVD player is a perfectly valid thing to do, would be lying.

Unless you bought one and you're lying to yourself, in which case, see: ignorant.

I try to save folks from their own ignorance, you seem to want to let people revel in it.

You're the first one to sling an insult bub, calling people arrogant is a right way to get people pissed at you.

Because you are.

Every post of yours that I've read screams arrogance. You think that you're somehow better than HD DVD owners or neutral people who happen to see even the smallest value in HD DVD players...

But w/e man. The only valid point you brought up was the whole price issue.

However you're comparing a Laptop that has an HD DVD player in it to an HD DVD player by itself. Of course its going to be more expensive

Just like most if not all laptops with Bluray drives are more expensive than the Bluray players by themselves.

I'm not being ignorant. I'm not trying to "piss" people off. You're the one whos trying to sound like you're the only one whos opinion on this subject matters and everyone else is just stupid or retarded.

HD DVD is dead. And yes its value has significantly dropped. However they can still be used and if someone wants to get one in their laptop for whatever reason then thats their decision and I don't see why you would insult them/criticize them for it.

Personally I do have patience. I'm waiting for a good solid and very well reviewed Bluray player to come out this year. I'm getting a brand new laptop myself right now. Still deciding between Dell, sony, and HP since it seems like they're the only companies that have Bluray in them.

If better=ability to read the market and not waste my money on something that is going to be obsolete soon.

Then yes, I AM better that people who happen to waste their money and see even the smallest value in HD-DVD players.

I'm still waiting for you to bring up a valid point and likely I'll be here for awhile if you ever do bring up a valid point... which I doubt.

I'm comparing a laptop with HD-DVD in it to a laptop that only has a DVD player.

Reading comprehension isn't the greatest in school these days, but please try and keep up.

Figured that out all by yourself did you? Amazing.

Ask any number of people on this website if they think that buying into HD-DVD at this point is worth the money.

Go ahead, I think you'll find that the answers might surprise you.

Welcome to the internet, where I can criticize someone for making a stupid decision.

There already is a well reviewed Blu-Ray player out there. It's called the PS3, perhaps you've heard of it?
