Could anyone recommend me the best pc protection software which is free to download. e.g spyware, anti-virus etc. Thanks for your help.

I just about to put the same two products: AVG, AdAware. I will add though, that they are both easily obtained at download.com for free.

Ad-aware is worthless, it only protects you from harmless tracking cookies.

AVG is good, although the company, Grisoft, has recently updated their pay edition to a whole new version, and it remains to be seen what they will do with the free edition.

avast is really good. used it for about 2 years no w/o a problem. also get adaware. regmechanic is also a good program as well you can get it free...but i dont think that kinda talk is allowed here
