* A military mission needs to be undertaken.
* A talented military person accepts the difficult assignment reluctantly.
* To carry out the mission, a group of 12 needs to be trained and forged into a team.
* Internal conflicts are to be resolved before the team can go on the mission.
* Finally, the mission into the enemy's territory.

The original Dirty Dozen (1967) v the latest version Top Gun: Maverick (2022). Which one do you prefer?

Voted for the Dirty Dozen because the characters still remain interesting and therefore memorable.

In Top Gun: Maverick, the characters are there, relatively speaking, to make Maverick look good.

In short, almost everything about the Dirty Dozen is more interesting.
