Default Why isn't the aspect ratio of SD content on BD preserved (PS3)?

The following applies to the PS3:

When I watch the special features on various BD's and it switches to 480, the 4:3 video is stretched out to my 16:9 TV. This doesn't happen when I watch 4:3 DVDs as I have it set to preserve the ratio. Is there a setting I can change? It's getting kind of annoying with the heavily distorted image.

It's something I'll be interested in knowing, too. I much prefer watching content in the original format when possible and will almost certainly be using the PS3 as my player of choice.

If this happens I change display settings (of the display) to get the correct aspect. Usually change "wide" to "normal" or 16x9 to 4x3. There could be a setting on PS3 to force 480 content to correctly display on 16x9 display. But I am not sure.
