Default Onkyo 605 - hooking up to speakers?

Okay, I'm getting my 605 tomorrow, but I have no speaker cables for it.

How do I hook it up?

My speakers have the black/red clips where you press up, stick speaker wire (plain, no connectors) in and let go.

The 605 doesn't have this, it has knob looking things. Just wondering what I need to buy, so I can have it ready.

Anyone know?

Thanks

Ah okay.

So I buy speaker wire and banana plugs and then thread the wire into the plugs, right?

I'm assuming my shopping list is:

1. Speaker wire
2. Banana plugs
3. Wire striper tool

The 605 has connectors that you unscrew slightly so that you can thread the bare speaker wires through and then tighten the connector down. Banana Plugs make it easier to take in and out, but if you're not going to be disconnecting them a lot, just use the bare wire.

Just twist the wires, and connect.... banana plugs aren't needed.

I agree they aren't necessary, but they do help.

banana plugs are good for protection and user friendly...it wont enhance or lessen your sound quality.if you go bare wire, just untwist the knob, slide the wire in through the hole, then twist knob back. simple
