This highly regarded animated film is being released by the revived New Yorker films on blu-ray on December 20th according to info I just received direct from New Yorker Films.
they also will be planning other blu-ray releases.
the rebirth of New Yorker Films--which unexpectedly folded last year--is great news for serious film fans.

I actually really wanted to see this one. Was sad it couldn't score a Best Animated Film nomination at the Oscars like Secret of Kells managed the previous year. Looks great, IMO. Was worried it wasn't going to be released on Blu though since Amazon only has the DVD listed.

I remember I e-mailed them about a year ago regarding a Blu-ray, and the answer was disheartening. Nice to see the tide shift.

I'm not sure; I just saw this info in an article on upcoming blu-ray releases and called them up to confirm a bd release.
so I really don't know much else.

New Yorker had been distributing our titles, but when they closed, we launched our own line. Soon after we had the Project X Label (which had been under New Yorker) releasing on our line.

Amazon.com has the dvd listed for $27 so i'm worried to see the price for the blu ray but good news that it will be on blu ray.

I really want to see this movie. I read that the ending is pretty emotional especially if you are a dog lover.

yeah they confirmed to me that a bd was planned, but that the dvd pre-order would be going up first.
I am becoming a bit concerned though.

I sent them an email last week, no reply yet.

possible good news regarding this.
I spoke at length with someone at New Yorker Films today and explained that no-one is seeing a pre-order for the blu-ray release on amazon.com.
they looked at amazon while I was on the computer, and at first said they saw it on their screen, but later said they would be contacting amazon to find out why it is not showing up.
so hopefully this will get straightened out and we can get a blu-ray pre-order up before the release date.
