Default BD "Standalone" Player Penetration To Hit 18% In 2010(excludes PS3 stats)

"The statistics exclude Blu-ray drives for PCs and Blu-ray-playing PlayStation game consoles."

It is good that standalone Blu-ray players are estimated to grow to around 18 percent penetration in 2010 which is more then double the around 8% penetration numbers in 2009. The Playstation 3 and computer BD-ROM drives are not included in the number. Some consumers play many DVD titles in Blu-ray players they own and have not purchased that many Blu-ray movies yet. The sells numbers for Blu-ray movie titles is the most accurate way to see how popular the format is. When consumers purchase Blu-ray only titles that contain no DVD version in the package then one knows how well the Blu-ray format is doing by the sells numbers.

Quote from Twice

"North American household penetration of dedicated Blu-ray movie players will more than double to 18 percent of TV-owning households by the end of 2010 from a little more than 8 percent in 2009, ABI Research forecasts."
