Difference between Stickerbook and Steelbook? - Blu-ray Forum

Is it most steelbook from bestb uy are sticket book? I had bug's life steel book (bestbuy)

A StickerBook (a made up word by SteelBook Collectors) is a blank SteelBook case, and the artwork for the covers is a large sticker that is placed on the outside front and back covers. There is no artwork inside, unlike alot of other printed SteelBooks with artwork on the outside and inside. Scanavo created this type of SteelBook to create smaller print runs than the minimum required run for a normal printed release. I'm also under the impression that they must be cheaper to produce since the covers don't have to rely on having the artwork painted on the covers.

Jumbo SteelBooks are the larger SteelBooks, such as UP, Monsters, Inc., Fast and Furious (all 4 films in one case), and now LOTR Trilogy. ALL the jumbo SteelBooks have a stickered spine, while slim SteelBooks have printed spines. THE LOTR Trilogy SteelBook is also a StickerBook in that the artwork that was applied to it is stickered. UP, Monsters, Inc., and all the other jumbo's previously released have had the covers use painted metal covers.

As a long-time SteelBook Collector, which is going on 3 years now, I prefer a SteelBook with the artwork painted on the metal and not on a sticker glued to it. I have avoided buying of them so far, but with LOTR available locally for me, I might pick it up for trade bait. The stickers will often times be off center on the covers, they are prone to air bubbles, and in my opinion, they just look rather cheap when compared to the original SteelBooks that we have all come to know and love.

The StickerBooks that I know of that exist are (off the top of my head):
Final Fantasy VII (several countries)
JCVD (Germany)
Transporter Trilogy (France)
Valkyrie (Walkyrie) (France)
LOTR Trilogy (Jumbo-US)

A steelbook has the artwork directly on the steel.
