Default Sydney Pollack dead @ 73

I'm waiting on for press release. He was a talented actor director, and producer. His most memorable movie was Eyes Wide Shut as some of you may remember. RIP.

It is a sad day for movie lovers. I love Three Days of the Condor.

RIP Mr Pollack. One of the greats. My favorites were the films he did with Robert Redford, Three Days of the Condor and Jeremiah Johnson.

I loved this guy. Always fun to watch as an actor and always entertaining when he was behind the lens. Truly sad. Had no idea he has been suffering for months.

R.I.P. You won't be forgotten.

What a bummer. I just watched Michael Clayton and Sydney Pollack was one of the co-stars. He was terrific in just about every project that he was involved in. He will be missed. RIP.

Damn. And I just watched him in "Michael Clayton" a few minutes ago. One of the 20th century's greatest directors who gave us hits like "Tootsie", "Out of Africa", "Three Days of the Condor", "Jeremiah Johnson", "The Firm", "Sabrina", "Random Hearts", and "The Interpreter", Sydney Pollack will indeed be missed.

R.I.P. Sydney Pollack (1934-2008)

I got the chance to meet Sydney Pollack several years ago at a lecture at Colorado College. He was such a nice man. I learned so much about films, and directing from him in the short time we got to talk. It's funny, I mentioned in another thread here this weekend that the best DVD extra I saw was a feature with Mr Pollack talking about viewing movies in widescreen over pan and scan.

Rest in peace, Mr. Pollack. And thank you for sharing your vision with us.

He was a brilliant actor, too - I remember him being fantastic as Hoffman's agent in Tootsie.

He will be missed.

Pretty sad, unexpected news. Pollack was one of the most important American directors of the last 30 years. Out of Africa was his biggest success. But he did well with other hits like Tootsie. Pollack wasn't too shabby as an actor either. I think one of his best performances was in Eyes Wide Shut.

I enjoyed seeing him act, but I'm sure he'll be remembered for Out Of Africa, Tootsie, and The Way We Were.
