It's only the 7th episode (8th to come this week) and I'm already dreaming to see this in glorious 1080p Blu Ray

what is it? is it on Cartoon Network? I'm assuming it's the standard late-night japanimation stuff right?

Hehe no, it's being broadcasted in Japan as we speak, 8th week (out of probably 26 episodes), we probably won't see a dubbed version in the US before at least another year, easy.

Seems the Japanese Blu Ray edition is already planned to start in July

(1st episode only, a special, in both versions "TV" and "Full" (32mins long vs 25mn) + bonuses, 1080p AVC, Linear PCM stereo - $45 ouch. Seems there'll be 9 volumes between July 08 and March 09).

I hope it won't be plagued by the licensing nightmare that prevented Macross 7 and Zero to be shown in the US (between the original Harmony Gold deal and the music licencing proper to most Macross products, specially 7 and now it seems Frontier), but it is very possible that outside of torrents / Blu Ray imports we never get to see this dubbed in the US

For those who wonder what this series is, it is the successor of a "little" show called Super Dimensionnal Fortress Macross, which had been shown in the US in the 80's under the name "Robotech".
It is also a direct sequel to the well known "Macross Plus".

EEK beware of using the words robotech and macross..

robotech was a consolidation of three series, one being The Super Dimension Fortress Macross, other being Super Dimension Cavalry Southern Cross, and the last being Genesis Climber Mospeada.

Macross is considered the pure, and robotech the unwanted step child...

But personally I do not care I love em both
