Hi, I was watching Sherlock Holmes the other night, and was wondering if the UK got it uncut.
I know the UK censorship used to have a bit of a problem with 'Double Ear Claps' and 'Headbutts' and would slice and dice them out of home video releases along with Switchblades (Face/Off). Or has the UK lightened up a bit these days? |

The BBFC have let Sherlock Holmes through uncut according to their website.
The Board has lightened up since the departure of James Ferman in the early-mid 90s. Seeing as an election is looming here in the UK, all of the main political parties are using the censorship issue as a way of winning votes and many are predicting a shake-up (read: tightening) of the censorship over here. Still, we're pretty liberal at the moment... The Wilson Bros |

The recent court-case of those two little bastards from Doncaster who tortured other kids has had politicians from all parties (when asked) saying that they will investigate the current censorship laws in the UK.
Gordon Brown was quoted in the Daily Mirror a couple of weeks ago... "There has been increasing concern among MPs at the way the British Board of Film Classification rates games. Critics say that, in recent years, it has adopted a perilous policy of allowing practically anything to be seen by adults - and offensive material to be shown to children. A review of the impact of violent films and games on children was headed by TV psychologist Dr Tanya Byron. It is also expected that the public will be given new rights to appeal against the rulings of the BBFC" Hope that helps... The Wilson Bros |
