I was hoping that they may have picked it up with the other MGM titles they acquired. I just found out about an anamorphic version in the UK.
I should just order it so that Criterion announces it as soon as I receive it. Hopefully Paramount will let Lionsgate release the Keep on blu. |

The unedited version is the original theatrical cut I presume. The director's cut is the only cut released in North America on DVD (which I believe was in one of those first wave of MGM catalog title DVDs put out in 1998 that were basically just transfers that had been used for more recent laserdiscs, so it looks God awful, much like the first Scarface DVD put out by Universal that same year). There are a couple of new short scenes, and a couple of things taken out, but the biggest change is that shots that were in Peckinpah inspired slow motion in the gun fight at the end have been sped up to jerky silent movie propotions making them almost comical. I guess Michael Mann went back and changed it because he no longer liked the slow motion, but speeding things up just makes it look terrible!
